I think an updated green with brown accents would compliment the brick.

Of the pics you posted, I actually like the current color the best. I think the high contrast, white or off-white with black trim will be passé very soon. Perhaps a darker sage as in the attached pic, and maybe a black door. And a little refreshed landscaping.

I like taupe with red brick and bronze trim.

#6 isn’t bad but I don’t care for the black triangle above the garage or the garage door in a highlight color. Why call attention to the garage??

A duller, darker shade of that beige color on the siding would be better. Closer to the color of the stone quoins.

What color is the roof? It looks different in different pictures.

Sometimes I take different isolated planes on a house and darken the color to create the illusion of more depth here and there... maybe then take the color for the garage door?

I really don't care for any of the looks that highlight the peak over the garage. The way it looks currently is better in that respect. The current color has a pea green aspect that isn't appealing, but I think it's the right amount of lightness/darkness. Changing the direction of the green or going more toward beige or taupe would be an improvement. Trying to minimize the appearance of the round windows is a good idea.

I think the triangle above the garage doesn’t look like it belongs so I would paint it the body color. I would pick colors from the brick for the body and keep it muted so it looks cohesive. I love the mahogany door idea. It gives your entrance more visual significance.

We’ve lived here for 18+ years. It’s amazing what fresh eyes see the I no longer do. I really appreciate all of the great feedback! 🙏

@Beth H - these last photos are the exact style we love but can’t figure out how to apply to our house. I also have looked for examples similar to our house with no luck. We’ve talked about changing our front door and garage door to cedar.

I like the idea of creating dimension by painting some sections darker. Just tried this using a painting software online (so ignore the imperfections). Also want to change the front door to wood but painted it black here.

Keep it simple w/ paint colors, you already have way toomuch going on with various window sizes and shapes, rooflines etc. No contrasting lights/darks, Just one siding color + maybe a shade darker for garage door, thats it. Keep in mind that dark colors recede, light comes forward so I would go w midtone or darker (but not saturated superdark) and let the brick come forward while therest recedes/ is de-emphasized.

One nice thing about the painting sections darker for more dimension is it is undetectable to someone that doesn't know what you did. To them it just looks like there is more depth in the details of the house.

Thanks Beth H! I love Sherrie from Young House Love. I didn’t think to check her blog. Also thanks for all of the color examples…so helpful! We have Hardie plank on our house now. I’d love to change some of it to cedar shake or board and batten, but we live in a 17 house neighborhood and I suspect the HOA would nix the idea of something that doesn’t align with everyone else’s homes.
