I'm thinking the shutters would look good black. Plus, those dormer windows should probably have a black line around the white trim to sort of point them up. Are you getting a door with glass panes across the top? Small squares, maybe 3 or 4 across the top? If so, that might look nice in black also, or perhaps a deep "jet" green. You need to change that single light into a pair of lantern, one on either side. Your house is an adorable little classic cape, and I really like it. If you are in the northeast where you have a snowy winter, I also suggest that you replace the narrow steps and wrought iron railings. Widen the steps to the full width of the stoop, and then have the railings come straight down from the brick wall all the way to the ground. You will need some railings to hold on to with the snow piling up there. Keep the wroughtiron black. Neat as a pin. Love your house.

Is the paint color an off white (cream)? If so, you color options are basically endless, depending what color your roof is or if you have any brick or stone on the house. When choosing paint colors for my house a couple of years ago, I kept in mind the color of stone on the front of my house, the brick on my chimney color, and my green roof. I then went to Behr's website and played with color combinations and found something that both my husband and I agreed on. With the color of your house in mind and what looks like a dark roof, maybe black, there are so many color combinations you could go with. I chose paints from Behr Marquee and the house color is Taupe Tease, trim is Superior Blue (my husband's favorite color), and the doors are Fire Cracker Red (my favorite color): All 3 colors work well together and work with the roof, brick, and stone colors as well. I also chose colors that no one else had in our neighborhood.

I love a wood front door, but with the covered front porch, it looks like the door would disappear into the shadows if it were wood or even too dark colors. If your front door has white trim around it then a wood or darker door works IMO. I can't tell from the pics posted if you have much trim around the front door or not. Right now we are getting the black hole effect on your lovely home. Try a lighter, brighter accent color or even a soft color for your front door. What is your favorite color? Try that :) The front door should be the accent color and not the same color as your proposed shutters. ^This one is surrounded by white trim and sidelites so it doesn't recede into the shadows.
