In my very humble opinion... I would suggest painting the Ceiling the same color as your surrounding walls, by doing this it will taKe away from all the angles and not drawing more attention to that ceiling... I would paint that wall and get some drapes in the same color, ( you don’t want to add more to make it stand out) add two pendant lights above each night Stand, you need all the space on those night stands and the lamps are taking up valuable real estate. Like this... don’t. Mind my rough drawing...

What size is the rug? It looks with too small for the room or it is running in the wrong direction. The sofa should be centered on the window; love seat under the collage. Buy a matching floor lamp the front corner and add a chair to the corner with present floor lamp. Put the accent table with a lamp next to the front door. I would buy another pair of the white drapes and make the treatment fuller for the larger window. What I would love in your room is the front window sill filled with plants. There are a lot of objections to faux plants, but I disagree. You either have a green thumb or you don’t. Now there are so many faux's in great pots, I don’t see why you can it enjoy the visual. Just get different species and different sizes.

I agree that curtains are making the situation worse. They look pretty bad hung as they are, too low and too wide. Even if you raise them above the window, which would be better, but even then, they highlight the fact that the rod is not centered on the arch. I'd use just a shade the same color as wall (once it's painted the ceiling color). Then move the TV over to center of the blank wall.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I had found the above solutions when I researched. Two problems: I don't like the way curtains looked bunched in the center and using only one panel on far left and far right of corner rod does not provide enough curtain when closed. Does anyone think I have enough room to hang two individual rods? Or will I just end up with curtains bunched in the corner again when opened. Re the blinds and sheers: The blinds are room darkening because both my DH and I are light sleepers and need a really dark room. So we definitely need the blinds. The house sits on a small lot and bedroom is on the ground floor. I like daylight during the day but want privacy. Need the darkening blinds so the only option I can figure out is to have sheers to allow for both light and privacy during the day. I want my curtains to match throughout the house and already have them; don't want to invest in room darkening curtains and I'm not sure the place I got them from makes that kind anyway.
