Do you need something there for privacy? If not, I'd remove the blind and not put any window treatment. I'd also try to push the fridge back as far as possible so it doesn't block part of the window. If not possible, when it cr*ps out on you buy a shallower fridge to allow full view of and out of the window.

I would get a shade of some type that exactly matches the wall color so the window is camouflaged. No valance.

I don't know why the previous owners bought such a large fridge that it covers apart of the window. Pretty annoying. I would need the option for privacy in the window.

Then what's wrong with what you have now? I think it looks fine and serves its purpose. If you put anything more decorative, it's only going to draw more attention to the unfortunate situation of the window being partially obstructed.

I guess I'm just looking for something to add on that side of the wall because it looks a little bland.

Bland is usually better when you don't want to draw attention to something.

ETA: You could paint the wall a more exciting color to jazz things up.

I would replace the wood blind with a top down/bottom up shade in a color that is close to your wall color but will some texture to the material. In the bottom up position, the shade would give you privacy while letting light in at the top.

removal and replace gets expensive..... custom fit things involve expense....go look at the prices. You have a nice blind...add a valance at the top......watch the projection of the hardware ...you dont want it out too far. but going higher helps. is there a filler strip between cab and wall ? here are a couple tailored valances and then a swag...... you can do a valance in whatever style you like .

Agree with the opinions so far. Leave it & don’t do anything to make it a more prominent feature. A valance will block the top decorative piece of the filler strip on right -not good. If I made any change to the window it would be to have the blind match wall color - lessen the attention to window. The top down/bottom up shade - cordless type - would work too assuming there’s not a two story window across from that kitchen window. Wouldn’t want the top down feature to defeat privacy. If so, the blinds are best option.

Thank you everyone for all your tips. If it wasn't for the fact that I had to buy other furniture for our place, I would probably get another fridge because it's really annoying that it cuts into the window area. Not sure why the previous owner got it that big. The window opens out to walking paths so there are people that walk by it. I think either leave as is or get a shade that will camouflage more at this stage.

If it were me I’d replace blind with one the same color as the wall rather than calling additional attention to the fact that the wrong fridge is there.
