self closing toilet seats?

Hey all,

Gauging interest for a residential self-closing toilet seat. I'm starting to understand that most women if living with men or children have to train them to close the seat. I'm also seeing that its certainly still a fear in the back of their minds that they might forget ;)

This seat would automatically close if someone forgot to before the next user, be completely electronics free allowing for an easy installation, and be relatively inexpensive. The seat will also automatically close after someone who sits uses it so men are forced to lift the seat and the lid to use the toilet.

Would this be helpful for mothers or women living with men?

I'm close to choosing my first toilet seat bidet. I'm considering these: BB BLISS 2000, BB 1000, SWASH 1000, COCO Bidet 9500RS, Coway BA13, & TOTO 300 (with or w/out the 'e'--electrolized water, supposedly more sanitary). 1 Do I really need to buy an elongated toilet?? My toilet is round, & frankly, it feels nice and comfy to me. Mostly it's only myself, and sometimes my 4 yr old grandson, who'll use this toilet. Some say the round tsbidets are too small. 2 Does anyone have an elongated tsbidet on a round toilet? 3 Has anyone put a white tsbidet on a beige toilet? (Some tsb only come in white, so of course my toilet is beige!) 4 I'm wondering if the "Far Infrared dryers" offer better drying; if they're better than just warm air dryers for people with various 'unmentionable' problems; or if it doesn't matter at all. Or maybe they're all far infrared? 5 Some have a 'Splash Guard'. Do tsbidets squirt water (clean or yucky) from below the seat? Thanks for any guidance!

Bemis is the same company as Church so don't bother with theirs. I am very unimpressed with their soft close seat, which I bought a few days ago. It's very cheap feeling, and I don't think the soft-close thingy is going to be all that durable. Flyleft mentions one sold at HD - there are two sold there, an American Standard brand one that's about $55, and the Bemis that's about $25. BTW, the Toto seats are indeed different from the totally flat seats most of us are used to. We had one regular and one traditional, which took a few days of getting used to and then we found them VERY comfortable. It's been an unhappy adjustment to come back to regular flat seats. Not only do I miss my Toto flush, I miss my Toto seats! Flyleft, I'll pay the shipping to send me your Toto seat if/when you replace it.

We have these on all 3 of our toilets which are Toto drakes elongated. They stay tight and are simple to remove. There’s a button on the back that you push and the whole seat comes right off. This is your third post on this issue.

install a urinal, post a reminder sign, dedicate one bathroom in your house for women only, something. If you live with a grown man who refuses to put the seat down, you have bigger problems at hand. if you live with a disabled person who is incapable, you need to modify your behavior.

I think Toto makes a ‘washlet’ (kinda like a bidet) that opens and closes automatically. Might be worth looking into in case the person forgets more than just closing the seat. Good luck.

Toto does indeed make a washlet with this feature.

The default on the lid automatically opens when someone approaches and then shuts a short time after departure. You can program it to also lift the seat and then have it go down as well.

I have this model and it is also as self cleaning as a toilet can be as it waters down the sides when someone approaches and has a deodorizing function as well.

I have this model and it is one of the best parts of my remodel.

However it is electronic and expensive so therefore doesn't meet with your criteria. 🤫🤫🤣
