Max Acceptable Gaps for Exterior Doors?

HU-412631568
last year

New house construction - builder has installed final exterior doors and put seals and door handlesets in... The gaps, particularly on the handleset sides, seem wide at 1/4" (3/8" in one case).

Particularly on outward swinging exterior doors it's easy to reach in with a screw driver and unlatch the lower latch. The latch and deadbolt mechanisms are easily visible with those gaps as well.

What is the maximum acceptable door gaps we should expect or request on exterior doors?

If the frames are too wide - can they shim the hinges to close up the gap a little on the handleset side?

(the interior doors were hung by a different crew and are a consistent 1/8")
