William Allen Richardson- Does anyone grow this rose?
Comments (23)I grow ‘William Allen Richardson’ in San Marcos, Tx. It was a band sized plant from Vintage. The plant is now approx 6’ wide x 4.5’ tall- disease resistant, heat tolerant and a free bloomer. His blooms lighten up significantly in the strong Tx sun....See Morehow does brigadoon rose do as own root? Anyone growing it in the south
Comments (4)Thank you so much BenT!! I didn't realize that pic is from your garden, this is the one that put it on my must have list. I have 2 roses on fortuniana and both are sickly looking. Munstead wood, Molineaux was planted in ground about a month ago. I have poets wife from david austin(not sure what they graft it on) right next to Molineaux(fortuniana) and it is robust, healthy sending numerous new canes. Munstead wood, Molineaux do not have not much growth on it. Munstead is a one stick wonder. I had heard such reviews about fortuniana root stock. I lost one that was also on fortuniana, Huntington. All were from K&M roses. Also, even though the plant graft is above soil level. Fortuniana is sending out side branches. I will take a picture and post it. I don't know what I am doing wrong as there is not one person out there that does not speak favorably of their rose grafted on fortuniana..Richmond VA...See MoreDoes anyone grow "Deschamps"? how about "Camellia Rose"?
Comments (5)On the other hand, a lot of gardens could benefit from some editing. I am no fan of Marie Kondo's extreme measures in discarding our possesions, but there is real value in going through your garden and getting rid of plants that you only keep because of guilt, not pleasure. If you find this difficult to do all at once, try doing it in several passes spaced over a period of time with pauses in between for evaluation and reflection. Your garden exists to bring you joy. It might bring you more joy if you actually love all the plants you grow, and you grow a number that you can manage without exhaustion or stress....See MoreDoes anyone grow the Buck rose, SEPTEMBER SONG?
Comments (23)Rebecca, I just looked and it is in stock. You have to select a size from the pull down menu for it to show as in stock. Here is a pic from this morning. My impression of Calico Gal so far is that she stays in her lane. Doesn't throw super long canes. Grows more upright than out. Is one of my earlier bloomers. Blooms pretty continuously, right through the fall. Froze with flowers on the plant. In fact I was cutting some from her to give to neighbors the day before our first hard freeze. Here she is with two neighbors for comparison. Livin Easy, foreground is a little fuller. She also froze to the ground so has all new canes. Easy on the Eyes left back kept more cane as some I cut off had little leaves on them but hasn't had the amount of new cane as the other two yet. In previous years Easy on the Eyes was cane hardy....See Moredianela7analabama
