You may want to post this question in the decorating forum. I was able to do an inside mount in a narrow area with a pleated shade, but I wouldnt want over kitchen window.

Is that too shallow for shrubs dwarf yew? Ours stay green. Pachysandra would look good in winter. Google image the geranium macrorhizum in winter too see it does change and look a bit burgundy and dried up in winter.

Patricia Colwell Consulting, I have blackout curtains for night time. I need light in the bedroom because that is where I get dressed. Getting dressed/picking out clothes in the dark/poorly lit room can lead to unfortunate clothing/color choices.... I am worried that the 10% light they let in won't be enough. shadylady2u, I actually could have something project 3" without issue; however I thought the mounting depth was the amount of wood that has to be available for attaching (with screws etc) the shades. Are you sure that I could attach those in a 1" deep window? If so, that opens up a lot of options for me. I will check out Budget Blinds. Thanks!

Outside mount............................ Or use curtain panels full enough to close and forget shades. Or add curtain panels with another privacy treatment. Neither blinds, cell shades or roller shades are particularly decorative, all alone....unless minimalist is your goal.
