Art, Photos, how to arrange? Where to hang?
Comments (13)I agree @calidesign...that was our intention, so we’re trying figure out how to hang a couple of large custom portraits of our kids when they were a few weeks old in the stairwell. They are incredibly heavy and we live in earthquake country. Not sure what kind of pro to hire to hang! Maybe I’ll see how much it would cost to reframe them. Working on the window coverings, but we’d keep the windows facing the dining wall open most of the time anyway because of the view. It’s north facing and today is pretty gray and rainy, so there’s more reflection than normal, I think. Thanks...See MoreHelp in arranging/choosing furniture/art/tech for LR/FR in 80's home
Comments (3)Paint the whole room a light, neutral color. Take the woodwork white. Paint the bookcases to match the wall color so it blends into the wall. Limewash the fireplace and add lights on either side if at all possible. Add a decorative screen as well. Switch out the ceiling fan for a large diameter drum shade light that is flush to the ceiling on a dimmer. Look at putting a graphic wallcovering on the tv wall. Computer area under pass-thru to kitchen or create a small reading. Comments (23)Fabulous paintings! Whenever I have to hang several pieces, I cut out large pieces of paper in the exact size and tape them up. I can re-arrange them w/o damaging the walls. When I get the placement right, if I'm still not sure, I take a photo and Photoshop the artwork in just to be sure. (If you don't have good photoshop skills, come back to us and somebody will probably jump in and do it for you -- maybe me, if I happen to be around at the time.) Once I'm really sure about placement, I stick a tack through the paper were the wall hook should go, and tear the paper down....See MoreHow should I hang art work on these walls?
Comments (5)I'd put blinds Bamboo blinds, more contemporary, on the windows and open the drapery panels on each side of the windows... only need the drapes pulled when you want a total darkness. I'd put large art in the indented area with a table and lamp Ambient lighting is a must for any room. A tall piece of furniture on that tiled floor that meets the carpet. I'd pull the sectional closer to the tiled edge... away from the window move the ottoman to the far side... and the side chair. ... find a new play room for the kitchen set....See Moreilikefriday
