My 2022-2023 Japanese Garden Compliments My Rose Gardens!
Comments (105)PLANTING MY NEW JAPANESE GARDEN PLANTS: FEB 28, 2023: POPPIES: 6 Poppy varieties were planted in pots & put outside. I can’t put them in beds yet because soil us being moved around…. roses being moved soon & new Japanese beds will be established by end of month. Perrenial poppies will be transplanted after blooms to their forever beds. Annual bread seed poppies will be harvested in pots for their seeds for next year. They will go both in Japanese garden & south side rose garden bed. I planted 3 Varieties of Japanese Morning Glories, now sprouting. They will be transplanted to large 3 pots & grow on trellis in Japanese Garden. MARCH 7, 2023: Yesterday I repotted my new Japanese Dwarf Pixie Maple Tree…. It’s just a twig…. but hope it grows….it should have beautiful red leaves. It has lots of big long full roots about 7 inches long. My 2 Japanese roses came early in winter….. so I temporarily potted them growing on kitchen counter near window. Their leaves have grown & filled out! They are getting an early start until warm & J bed is established. Pas de Deux rose Shinoburedo rose Still waiting for my Japanese iris, & persimmon, to be delivered. I should plant primrose seeds now! And Andromeda is growing on kitchen counter, too. ALL plants need planted in new Japanese bed , once established, around March end! I just ordered 2 schrubs to fill out the Japanese bed from ETSY: Spellbound Camelia Pomegranate Splash Rhododendrum...See More2023 rose & health & garden & cooking tips
Comments (133)Thank God that my blood type O+, rather than O-. If I'm O- then it would create an Rh incompatibility with husband Rh positive (he's B+). ABO incompatibility is less severe jaundice than Rh incompatibility, but at birth my daughter's skin was very yellow, and even her eyes were yellow. Blood Type Incompatibility, Rh Incompatibility, and Jaundice | Cerebral Palsy Guidance "Rh incompatibility occurs during pregnancy if the mother is Rh- and the baby is Rh+ In about 13 percent, there is a risk that a pregnancy could result in an Rh incompatibility (mother is Rh- and the father is Rh+). Jaundice can be severe, especially when caused by Rh incompatibility, and may cause a specific type of brain damage that can lead to cerebral palsy. Light therapy (phototherapy) is generally used to treat it. Some babies require a special blood transfusion called an exchange transfusion or a transfusion of intravenous immune globulin." My next-door neighbor has a 26-year-old son with cerebral palsy, he cannot drive nor work. I'm thankful for the light therapy that treated my daughter's jaundice. She graduated 4th out of 794 seniors in high school and completed 16 college classes while in high school. It's good for marriage-age people to get a blood test, esp. when it costs only $7.50 from Amazon. The test is very accurate for blood type and Rh factor....See MoreWhite in the garden 2023
Comments (47)Erasmus, yes, as said above, Magnolias were probably first being pollinated by flying beetles and other nocturnal insects. Bees are considered "modern" insects by comparison. BTW, many white-flowering plants have NIGHT pollinators, such as moths, or bats. White flowers are more noticeable at night so that makes sense. And getting back to the Magnolias, their flowers are "perfect" (a.k.a., "bisexual"), so male and female parts are located on the same flower. So guessing that makes pollination even easier. Last year was the first year I found wild M. grandifloras sprouting up in my yard from self-sown seeds. P.S., Yes, the bees also seem to love my Nellie Stevens as well....See MorePurple in the garden 2023
