Help! Looking for rugs

Can anyone recommend a great source for quality, durable, large, cut-pile rugs for a family room? No viscose, it's not durable enough. We have a large dog. I don't want washable, because the rug will be too large. I'm considering wool, polypropylene, or maybe a nylon blend. Maybe local Persian rug stores are the best bet for wool? Thanks!

Do you live close enough to a carpet store so you could check out their remnants? The edges can be bound to make an area rug. If none of them are what you're looking for you can get any of their products made into an area rug. It doesn't have to look like bedroom plush. The store near me has an amazing variety of stocked and special order patterns, but I live in a large metro area. I realize not everyone is in driving distance from this type of resource. If you buy something online I suggest ordering a small size initially so it's easy to return if you don't like it. The larger sizes have extra shipping costs.

kandrewspa Thank you! So you wouldn't go with an area rug. You'd get carpet cut to size? I've been considering that. We prefer the look of traditional or Moroccan area rugs, but practicality is more important. I do live in a large metro area. Wish area rugs were made as well as the Persian rugs of old!

Thanks, Olychick. Yes, that's where I found it online. Plus, the description doesn't seem to fit the picture. The description says red (which it also is available in), not blue. And you can't buy direct from there - they're the manufacturer. I emailed them and they told me that I could find it at Home Depot, BBB, etc. (online), but I cannot. Since you are willing to paint, I would consider the color that is in the background in your beautiful drapes, as the dark walls make it feel cave like, your lovely wood is not noticed and if the walls are lighter, the windows and view may take more prominence. In regards to a rug...I think an overdyed raspberry colored rug would feel traditional, yet modern and also elegant. Room is not quite what I described but may give you a feel for the look with lighter walls and an overdyed rug.

Can you tell us how high your mattress is? That would help because the night stands need to be an inch or two within that height. Could you look through Houzz for bedrooms with black iron beds and save some photos of looks that appeal to you. In looking at what you have saved so far, I can’t see a trend toward a color? Sometimes finding a rug you love or a piece of art helps drive other choices. Right now all I see and hear is light and beige. Sounds like you are fearful of color? Help us help you.

What is your lighting ? Often what makes spaces look yellow is indandecsent , Edison buls in your fixtures much more than your floors Make sure all you bulbs are LEDS 4000K and seeif that helps . Also you need to post pics of your space Your cream wall color could have a n effect too.
