Ditching Natural Gas in Toronto - Mechanical systems advice!

Daniel R
last year

Hi all!

We are regutting our home in midtown Toronto, architect just starting the proposals based on our sketches.

We have the opportunity to use all these new grants and loans to make the house more energy efficient, we are almost decided to go for Induction (instead of gas range), so we are thinking of completely cutting our gas service and move to a Heat Pump technology for space heating (water radiant floors and rads) and water heating (kind of same system hopefully...).

Anyone that has done this in cold climates? We would like to use kind of a centralised system for all this hot water generation (seems that North America is a bit behind Europe in addoption of this tech).

Any advice would be awesome to be able to bring our research to the architect and mechanical engineer. Everyone kind of pushes you to keep relying on gas (easy and usual option...).

Thanks!
