Help! Is the vanity too dark?
I recently painted my vanity old navy by benjiman Moore but it looks way darker on the wood than on the paint sample. Should I repaint it a lighter shade of blue l? If so what shade should I paint it. If you could respond quickly that would be great because I need to let the painter know by 7am tomorrow

Too dark, too wet, or too cold?
Comments (3)It's hard to tell from your pictures, but if you're sure you're not over-watering, it looks as though there might be a high level of solubles in play. Also, no plant likes to be root bound. The unwanted effects of tight roots include shorter internodes & loss of branch extension, smaller leaves, lower vitality, shedding of older foliage so that most growth is concentrated near meristematic regions (near branch tips), and often the inability to water properly. I would do a complete repot, which includes bare-rooting, root-pruning, and a change of soil. Repotting and root pruning has a SIGNIFICANT rejuvenating effect on plants. Plants repotted can be counted on to exhibit greater biomass by the end of the growth cycle than their counterparts that may not have been so fortunate as to be as well cared for. Comments (5)deegw -- I kept looking at that picture of my room from your reply, and coudn't figure out where or when I moved that rug (my photos are from different years and there's been a variety of rugs in there. ) Then I realized you photoshopped it in -- cool trick. You make a good point, about adding color back in, too. But do you think that just painting the back wall white will be enough to lighten the room? I feel I still have to deal with the dark cabinets in the dark side of the room. loobab - thanks for the tips about size of painting related to to wall. Yes, it's my utilitarian makeup table and it's grown unwieldy over time. In reality, I hate clutter. I need a vanity with storage and much better lighting, and a curvy mirror sounds perfect. 2 months agoCan you post some pictures of the rest of the space? It is difficult to comment on paint colours just by looking at the vanity and floor.
Do you have some inspiration pictures that you were trying to replicate?
And your lighting situation will definitely impact colour choices. Does the room get any natural light? How much lighting have you got and what temperature is the lighting?
Some complimentary colours for the blue might be
Benjamin Moore Silver Mist 1619
Benjamin Moore Beacon Grey 2128-60
Benjamin Moore Vanilla Milkshake OC 59
Or something more silver grey might be nice.

One other thing to look at....the floor tile, the grout looks a little dark. You can try steam cleaning the grout or lightening it a bit to brighten up the floor. Grout very often holds dirt with its slightly rough surface. A really good scrubbing and steam cleaning can often bring it back to its original colour and make such a difference to a room.- PRO
