How about just replicating what you have on sliding door for the window? Agree that the treatments should match. The drapes on slider look good and seem to work well for the light & privacy control you want. It would be best if the rod for window is hung at same height as already is set for door. That looks like rod may need to run over the middle or close to top of window casing as that casing seems wider than door casing. Curious question - why are top down (and bottom up) blinds not allowed in Canada? A safety issue with cords perhaps?

Thank you. I do like the drapes. Just thought it might be a pain reaching across the ottomans every day but that’s probably a minor issue! Unfortunately there is a bulkhead over part of the patio door so the drapes would be at slightly different heights.

And yes!!…a child safety issue with cords!

I think you’d quickly become accustomed to reaching across ottomans to pull drapes closed or open. It looks like there’s enough room to move them a little bit apart if you wanted so there’s space to partially step in between them. I did note the bulkhead over the door. The height difference would be very little so I think it would be ok. I think it’s more important to have the same treatment on both window & door. The corded hanging piece on wall next to window (can’t recall what to call it) might be too big with a drape panel there - I think the panel should stack back either all or mostly all off the window. That safety issue - I’m pretty sure US has child safety standards for using corded window coverings & their issues prompted the creation of cordless blinds. But maybe the standards are limited to warnings attached to the item. Such as the reminders printed on plastic bags telling us the bag is not a toy & the danger of suffocation. 😳

Fonsterviva curtain panels at Ikea offer a similar look to curtains but more tailored.

What about a woven shade and a woven drapery on the patio door. From what I can tell this would blend well with the look of your home. I'd suggest mounting the shade over the casement windows as an outside mount at the same height as the patio door treatment. This will get the stack off the window, make the window appear larger and let more light in. Woven shades can be cordless or motorized to comply with the new laws and the woven drapes have no cords. Call your local Budget Blinds for an estimate.

I purchased a top down, bottoms up shade at Home Depot in Canada in 2019.

Whaat? Top down shades aren’t allowed, why? Order them online if you want or do they have shade police?

Do the same drapes for both. The current ones are fine. It's the light and views that count. Just move the ottomans a bit forward to make space to open in close the drapes. If you do get new ones, Remount the rod on the sliding door nearly to the ceiling and the same with the window.

Now that you have a new window, when weather allows put planters out there to extend the living room space visually. In fact, if there's another space for the ottomans, utilize the light coming in from the windows for a variety of tall and low plants. Along with outside plants, you'll have beautiful greenery to look at inside and out. You could even build a window bench there for plants or extra seating and tuck the ottomans below.
