Need new bathroom faucets that will complement polished brass
Comments (3)I would replace it with brass so it matches or is closely coordinated. If I were a potential buyer I would wonder if the non-matching faucets were a quick fix. I think this is one of those situations where keeping the finishes the same is more important....See MoreStripping Lacquer off of Brass Kitchen Faucet
Comments (15)I ended up doing this w/ my kitchen faucet about 6 months ago & I love it! I've been trying to find out how to post my pictures on here for y'all, but I can't figure it out. Sorry! Not very techy here! About a year or so ago, I'd seen a post on a designers blog where the girl unlacquered her kitchen faucet. Unfortunately, the blogs gone now but I have her pictures & what she said all about it. Both, the blogger & I, sent ours to someone that unlacquered them for us. She sent hers to a guy, I believe in San Francisco. The name of the place is The Sink Factory & the guy that did hers is named Ragnar. I sent mine to a metal guy here in Austin. You can reach him here & his name is Augustine. He wasn't real cheap, but for the price I paid for the faucet + his cost, it was still less than buying one that already has a live finish. This girl mentioned that she had gone around to a bunch of salvage places & found out that any lacquered brass can be stripped, even if it says "Lifetime Finish". The only prerequisite is that it has to be solid brass. She said the neck on her faucet was brass plate on copper, but Ragnar told her he could still do it. He told her not to use anything abrasive on it & not to polish it & it'll keep looking good. She said she cleans it every couple of weeks with non abrasive cleaners & that's it. Augustine said my neck was solid brass, but that surprised me because it was lighter than the main piece, so I don't really know. Just to be safe, I don't use anything abrasive on mine, either. I think I found the exact faucet that she had, on Overstock.com. It's still on there, here. It's so cheap, $290...but mine's dripping already, so what does that tell you about the quality! Now if I can just get it to stop dripping, it might be worth it! I have pictures of both, hers & mine, but again, I can't figure out how to post! It used to be so easy on old GW! :) I have a mac & have saved her pictures & mine as PDF's. I think that's the problem! Maybe I can try to figure it out tomorrow. Anyway, hopefully this will encourage you to go & do it too!...See MoreRohl kitchen faucet? California Faucets kitchen faucet instead?
Comments (56)I ended up here, because I'm redoing my kitchen and trying to make a decision about the faucet. I have various faucets throughout my house from Kohler, Moen, Restoration Hardware, and Newport Brass. I think the Restoration Hardware fixtures are made by Newport Brass, because we had to call them when we needed to replace. We've had them from 10-12 years, so I don't know the styles or even if they are made. Almost all are polished nickel, and the Kohler and Moen are always spotless, laundry room and bathroom, respectively. I'm not crazy about the pull down sprayer on the Kohler. The Moen Showcase (do they still make this line?) is in the bathroom, and I love it so much, because I can just pour water over it and it will dry spotless. It's amazing. It is wall mount, and I wish I had it in every bathroom. Because of my success with Moen, when I needed a faucet for my kitchen, I bought an inexpensive (relative to all the other faucets I have) Moen at Home Depot. It is the only non polished nickel faucet I have. It is stainless steel, still looks brand new (10 years+), and the pull down sprayer works wonderfully. Unfortunately, I'd never buy fixtures from Restoration Hardware again. They spot like crazy. The Newport Brass are slightly better, but they also spot. I'm looking at Kohler and Moen for my new kitchen, but the choices are limited in polished nickel. Now I'll look at California Faucets, too, but I'll skip Rohl, since someone mentioned the polished nickel spots so much....See Morefaucet brand w/ a finish matching Kingston brass brushed brass?
Comments (35)@Liz Patrick Love your kitchen and thanks for showing the differences in detail. On a time crunch with our kids’ bath and trying to decide if i can mix Kingston Brushed Brass faucets (which will go better with our lighting) and Delta Champagne Bronze fixtures in the shower which will be behind a shower curtain. In the pic of your kitchen faucet and disposal button, you called the Delta finish Champagne Gold but you meant Champagne Bronze right? Thanks for your help! Anyone else use Kingston brushed brass with Kohler shower components in Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass? Im wondering which one is a closer match, Kohler or Delta? I need something thats in stock and ready to ship so i cant wait for Brizo or California Faucets. Im also thinking of mixing the Kingston brushed brass fixtures in the vanity area with their polished brass in the shower behind the shower curtain. They dont have all the shower components we need in the brushed brass in stock. Would love anyone’s feedback..we decided to tack this on to a much more extensive reno and i dont have the luxury of going to showrooms to look for this part of the reno....See MoreBumblebeez SC Zone 7
