Should a front porch have a step down, or be flush?
Comments (13)Maybe I am wrong but when you say porch that includes a roof and can be a part of the home. A deck or patio is with out a roof system unless you build roof structure of sorts but it is till opened air?? So everyone stating about weather and leaves snow its a porch with a roof unless it has no knee walls a snow drift or wind blown leaves will gather at the door.???? I am having the same issue when addressing my 70ft deck that has a metal roof and I divided it with walls...So its a PORCH till I enclose each room into a sun room still a porch. A family room on the porch till It is structured as one etc......See Morecraftsman garage door opener - door only closes 3 feet
Comments (2)"I wanted to add that the sensors both appear to be working properly, they both have solid green lights, no flickering whatsoever, and when the carrier is in the middle of its 3 foot travel, I can put my hand in front of the sensor and it will immediately stop the door. So, my guess is that it is not the sensors." The sensors react only when the door/operator are closing and the beam is interrupted. The reaction is that the door stops and instantly reverses-- to open. Additionally, the light on the opener will flash a few times and the opener is inoperative until the light flashing stops. Does yours do all these things?...See MoreCarolina Wren Nest close to front door
Comments (5)Carolina Wren update: Mommy Wren did return and there are a total of 4 eggs. I've been using the kitchen door with occasional use of the front door. This little lady is not afraid of me at all. I will softly talk to her, when I do go out that door, and I see no fear or nervousness in her eyes. I am anticipating babies any day now. This wren couple has been here since I moved in 4+ years ago. This will be my 5th Spring with them. The wheel well above my car's front tire has always been a spot they've picked for a potential nest. Its been a bit of a game with us. Every morning I would go out and remove the nest. By the time I woke up the next morning another would be in its place. Last Spring they chose a nest they built in a small storage shed by the kitchen door. Unfortunately, a snake got the eggs within 3 days. The Christmas Cactus that she is nesting in is one of a pair. They are equal distance from the edge of the wooden plant stand they are on. The stand is 3 ft high. They chose to build in the plant that is closest to the door. There had to be a reason for that. Thank you for all of your help....See MoreFront load washer that door can stay closed?
Comments (1)No. Front loaders are a closed, sealed environment when the door is closed--how else are you going to no have no water leaks? LG front load washers have a feature that allows the door to stay open just every little bit so and that works. It has like a magnet that keeps the door slightly open, but not obtrusive. Sure, you can go ahead and keep the door closed, but you'll have mold and a putrid smell inside that won't ever be completely rid of without taking the whole machine apart....See Moremillworkman
