Can Bright and Airy coexist with Cherry?

Apologies if I posted multiple times...glitcy internet

We are redoing our home into a bright and airy, beachy kind of look. Is there a way to incorporate my cherry bedroom set? (Ignore the mess, this room is currently our bedroom, kitchen, and office haha). I am willing to switch out the headboard, but I cannot justify getting a new dresser. I have looked for photos but gotten no ideas. The second photo is a catalog photo of the new flooring, it that helps.

Please don't paint that gorgeous wood. Having cherry as an element with your other beachy things will add a richness and some warmth. Yes to changing to brass hardware.

Yes. I have cherry in my beach house. I have white walls and light floors and mostly light colors other than these elements.

I'd use chalk paint and new hardware to repurpose your nice furniture...it's super easy to use. Only very light sanding required and easy clean up. I took a private lesson with an expert - best $70 investment for the project. Layer a couple of colors...experts can show you how. While I did different look on drawer fronts, you certainly don't have to!

Aztreelvr mentioned it above, but I want to reiterate that the Coral Fountain (Russelia equisetiformis) would work perfectly for you from what I can tell of your desires. It is perennial, and is very hardy. It doesn't take much water, and it is only a bush size. Mine is only 3 years old, and it blooms year round, throwing up pretty red flowers all over the bush (although more in the spring & summer)- the hummers love it! The only down side is that it spreads rather easily...branches can take root when they touch the ground. But, it's not that big of a chore to pull any seedlings that have started every couple of months (I give them to friends, and they have them in their gardens now!). That's my suggestion! Good luck! Hi, here you go! It's really hard to get good pictures though as one side has all windows and the room is small but tall. Not only do I have two different cabinet colors but I have four different counter/table surfaces. I put skinny mirror's in the uppers which reflect the outdoors, they are not wide so you don't really see yourself...just a reflection of everything. As I mentioned just a few postings further back, I have in fact already a man-made perch at 7' height where birds line up to bathe/drink. I had more bird stuff included in previous postings but I subsequently edited most of the bird stuff out to focus on gardening. (Bird forums discuss bird stuff on an on-going basis, this gardening forum is the wrong forum to do that. Please don't ask why I want a living perch, it is in the original post.) You can't boldly prune a dense maple into an airy serviceberry either. I'd rather start with the best (most suitable) materials and work from there. Plans for next spring is "so far out in the future"? Sure, garden plans can change, but I can do nothing in the next 4 or 5 months anyway. Why not advance the plans?

I would clean and condition the wood. For cherry, this wood looks a bit dry and some conditioning would help bring out the grain and color in the wood. Beautiful wood goes with anything (unpainted canoes, boats and woodwork on yachts -- often cherry or similar toned wood). When you get things pulled together, you can consider changing the hardware. A brushed brass would compliment that warm wood.

I agree - spruce it up a bit - you might even change out the hardware. Having some darker elements in a room gives the eyes someplace to rest, and balances out lighter colors.

I would use it…but finish the room…install it where you want it…and then post again …asking for advice on whether the set ..as is ….works…the only problem i see is if you use the whole set…how can you make it work in a beachy setting…i think a Caribbean setting would work…with some live..sizable …greenery..sheer flowing curtains…bamboo lamps,etc.

It is beautiful and timeless. I would definitely use it. (Like Mtn, I have cherry in my beach house, but I also mixed in some lighter pieces as well. (anyone remember my blue nightstand and bunny lamp?)

If you have many cherry pieces, instead of keeping them together as a suite, spread them out in the house to lessen their impact. Put the headboard in a guest room, use the nightstands in another bedroom, keep the chest in the MBR. I agree with the posters above, painting the furniture is unecessary.

Cherry pieces are lovely "accent" pieces. I agree with spread them around....and do not paint them.
