It just seems to stand out because the paint color is a cool white and just about all your lighting, countertops and flooring are very warm toned. So you are seeing a lot of contrast. I do not think it looks bad, it just looks very different to your eyes. Get some art on the wall and it will look completely different. Maybe a rug under the table in a light, cool tone will help pull the wall color into the room.

I would start with changing out the bulbs in the fixtures to 3500k. The very warm lighting is skewing the colors. Then add new pics of the space

Even with whiter bulbs, the hanging fixtures all have yellow/warm shades that will tint the light.

I agree with @Susie . -- the paint color is fine and workable but probably not ideal given all the warm tones (especially the counter and floor)

Nothing in that room is too dark! I agree, put something on the walls.

--Take down all the paper flyers etc. hanging off the fridge on both visible sides. Get a magnetic bulletin board and just keep a few things you like on it. For the side, get a magnetic pocket organizer to contain all your paper. That way when you walk in, you're not looking at a mess of paper hanging all over. Clear off the countertops of Kleenex boxes and anything that belongs in a cabinet.

--For under the sink, get a Gel Pro Kitchen mat in colors that echo your lighting https://www.gelpro.com/shop-all/Shop-for-Home This should be your palette whether you're choosing rugs, art, kitchen items--oven mitts, dishtowel, etc.

--Get a rug runner for the pathway side of your island in a palette of these colors.

I didn’t suggest daylight bulbs. I never would in a regular living area. Maybe a garage or basement. I just think your light shades themselves give off a warm glow. You may like that. I was just responding to someone who suggested changing your bulbs. I have warm white in my kitchen but I have used cool white (not daylight) in some rentals that have low natural light.

Here are examples of lighting temps. I like the middle range in most kitchens and baths. I also have it our guest room because it’s my office (on a dimmer anyway). I have the soft white in a living room and the other bedrooms, but if I had less windows I would use cool white. It doesn’t look cool to me, just cooler than the warm I guess.

change the center fixture to a track light, or get some recessed installed. the light, no matter the bulb ( daylight will blow out the fixture) will not give you more light, the fixture itself has no utility value in a room that requires light for task.

Yes. We went from a Naval navy .. I wanted to brighten it up since have not much natural light and live in a grey area most of the time here in south bend .
However.. I do wonder where I can add a pop color ?

It looks so much better when the lights are off. It is a great color now and looks good with your floors. I don't feel like you need a pop of color, in fact a pop of color might end up clashing with your floors and counters. I think the white is a nice bridge color so wouldn't paint your chairs either.

I do think your light above the island is way too short and the shade color is not doing you any favors. Either get a new fixture, or lower that one and get a new shade. Forget the different names for bulbs. Instead concentrate on the kelvin number. I would try lightbulbs that are 3000K. It will give you some of the warmth you are looking for but won't be as honey colored as what you have now. I totally get needing to feel warm in a cold climate!

Get something that you like to hang on the long wall by your table. You don't have a lot of other areas to cover. I'm not a fan of the colors in your pendent lights. I think you could go neutral instead of the colored stained glass.

Kendrah makes a good point about the pendants. You can swap out the globes fairly inexpensively and doesn’t require rewiring. Lowes and Home Depot sell replacements. My local habitat has tons of them for very cheap. I’d go for a white globe (I don’t like looking at bare bulbs). It will just blend with you white cabinets and trim. Over the island you could replace with track or a pendant with multiple lights.

As suggested use art for pops of color. The lovely stained glass pendants have orange and teal. And your wall is a shade of blue/green. Echo those colors. A nice large piece behind the table is a great spot.

Yes, if you decide you don’t want the colored glass ones, you can just swap out the globe. Some people like to match the finishes of other fixtures in the space, and it looks like you do have different finishes, so that’s up to you whether you want an entirely new one. Not sure that’s necessary. Or if you’re going to replace the island fixture, match the finishes of those.
