Antique Rose Emporium Rose Arrived!!! :)
Comments (2)Agreeing with Olga---Blush will be so happy to find herself in cool rain, you would do well to plant her now. Everybody looks for ways to get out of Texas in the summer! I live ten minutes from ARE, and temps are in the nineties every day now...almost all activity stops for the summer, except for the earliest and latest part of the day. I've often said that in the summer we ought to reverse our days and nights here. Laura...See MoreAntique Rose Emporium Fall Festival of Roses
Comments (17)Actually Sue, I am intending to come out west again within a few months. I was in California in June/July of 2006 for a week or so, and had a blast! I had wanted to walk 'neath those stately redwoods since I first saw a film about them in elementary school, a long LONG time ago! Since I have been there in summer, I am shooting for a winter or early spring visit next time. I would love to meet some of my California rose friends while I am there this time! Comments (10)Beautiful roses and rose buds Kate. Gruss An Achen is a light pink, it looks right to me, a lot of times I think when it's really hot it's almost creamy white. It's why I could never make up my mind to get it or Pink Gruss. I didn't get either because I have thrips so bad and I already have too many light colored roses. Everything you're growing looks great. Bligh looks very contented right there in his kingdom:)...See MoreHoliday Ideas from the S.A. Antique Rose Emporium
Comments (7)Hi Marlingardener and everybody! I thought about the advertisement part when I posted this, but both the Antique Rose Emporiums; the one in Brenham, and the one here in San Antonio, are such neat place to visit it's kind of nice to be reminded once in a while. In fact, my friend Lesli, who I met on the Rose Forum years ago, came in town today and we went! I just posted some photos on the Gallery. After ARE, we ate lunch in Bracken at a restaurant introduced to me by my friend Patty, Castro Gardener. Being only 25 minutes from Schumachers Country Gardens in New Braunfels, of course Lesli and I had to go there too. Schumachers still has their sale on. The summer sale was supposed to be on until it rained so they must have had about as much rain there as I did at my house. The four inch pots were still $1.00 and one gallon are $3.00. Other sizes are on sale too. Hard to beat those prices so we loaded up. Here is a link that might be useful: A few pics of ARE on the Texas Gallery...See MoreDave5bWY
