You have maple just sand and go clear. You can use Nordicseal or Naturalseal on it, if, you would like to keep as white as long as possible. Be aware that maple has pink veins.

That may be a prefinished floor, if you look close at the area near the patio door I believe I believe I see micro bevels. Is the current floor prefinished? Do you know how thick it is? I would investigate refinishing as G & S suggests before replacement.

Medium wood tones are classic. On red oak try colors like provincial or special walnut, or if you want light just use water based poly with no stain.

I would not paint those cabinets.

If, you are replacing the floors, go with white oak.

Why red oak and all its issues . Maybe explain a bit more . I think the cabinets are best left since they are dated for function and to spend the money on having them painted is IMO not wise.Waht are the floors we see in the kitchen ?Make sure all the lighting is LED 4000K before choosing colors for anything IMO.

Take a look at fruitwood stain on red oak.  I think it's pretty neutral and would work with your cabinets.

I would do two coats of Natural seal on white oak.

Right now, there is a $1.00 per square feet difference between red and white oak with white oak costing more. You will be paying the same amount or more for red oak, pretreat and to stain it light. So, the better value buy is white oak if, you are doing a light tone.

White oak was costing $2.00 per square feet more all last year up to New Years. Pricing dropped afterwards.

Thank you so much everyone with your helpful information and suggestions. I might be over thinking the color coordination because I’m seeing some good ideas being posted! I love the idea of not painting my cabinets and wondered if it would be wasted money spent.
I like the white oak flooring suggested…. I originally chose red oak only because of my inexperience in flooring materials but mostly because I thought to coordinate with the red in my cabinets I’d need a floor that had some red or warmth. I really do like the picture posted by Beth… red oak with bona Nordic seal.
