"Mint green" can mean different things to different people so you should show a sample of what it means to you and Granny. Also, you should say exactly what you're painting. Will it include the brick? Without knowing the exact color, I'll venture to say that it does not sound good to me. I'm imagining something on the low class side, as colors go. To be sure, what is killing any potential the front of the house has is the hedges lining the walk. It is negative to the maximum and no matter how you trim it, it will remain so. Ditto for large shrubs in front of windows and porch. Just plain grass at both sides of the walk would be vastly superior. We can't see the yard, but based on the hedges, I imagine the general landscaping is in need of a major overhaul.

Overall, it s a lovely house. I find nothing wrong with the windows and would keep them. Adding new garage doors with windows would seem too busy a look, competing with all other windows on the front of the house, so I would keep them as is. Don't make them more fancy than the rest of the house. The eye should go to the front door. I love the picture you posted for a new front door and is a nice, easy and generally not too costly way to make a quick update. My preference is always to have a roof over the front door, and I would work with an architect who could come up with some ideas for that. And the stairs need a handrail. Yes, wait to see what colors would go with the roof, the blue is pretty but perhaps the owner would prefer a more sublte color. Good luck!

Emma - my boss wanted to tear it out. i wanted to save it, so i had to think of a way to refresh with keeping. i am so glad i did it here, because we had thought about doing it outside which i believe to be a huge mistake. the roof is an unfriendly brown, but has to much life left to replace. the stone outside is going to be untouched :)

Thank you for the suggestions @ decoenthusiaste, @ Momofthree Ma and @ Beth H. We are on a limited budget, so we won't be able to replace the siding. Do either of you have suggestions on the best way to add window trim? Will we need to have someone remove part of the siding and re-flash the windows to do this Also, do you have any suggestions for what we could do with the steps? We don't have a budget to build a porch, but could make some minor mods to this structure. We will be adding some landscaping this fall.
