putting granite top on antique sideboard
Comments (19)We put a granite top on top of an old sideboard. Our sideboard wasn't as ornate as yours, and I wondered if you were still planning to use that hutch type piece on top? It does look from your photo like it would feel nicer in a dining room, but sometimes it's a 'use it here or else!' kind of thing. I know, I've been there. Our granite guy who was doing our kitchen counters at the same time, cut the top along the same curving lines as our sideboard, cut an opening for the sink in both the granite and the top of the sideboard. Of course, you wouldn't need that. He glued it on and I love the way it came out. I'm assuming you just want the piece intact, not that you plan to use it again ~sans the granite~ for something else? Comments (4)Check out Annie Sloan chalk paints. They have blues that would work plus you can mix colors to get the shade you want. https://www.anniesloan.com/annie-sloan-products/paints/chalk-paint...See MoreWhich color wood buffet sideboard in dining room
Comments (4)With the darker floor, you may want to warm up everything in the dining room. You might start by staining the chair legs a warmer color. Change the cool gray rug to one in warmer tones like your wall color. We can't see the sideboard/bar cart you referenced. It may be a matter of what you can get your hands on unless you're willing to shop second hand &/or paint said items....See MoreWhat color/style sideboard would go with our table?
Comments (11)I assume you've tried to center the table under ceiling lighting, which appears very inadequate, especially if it is only a ceiling fan with light kit. I suggest you use that ceiling electric to install extended, adjustable track lighting that will cover more of your walls and the table top. Be sure to adjust one of the lights to wash the wall in the recess for your sideboard and art. Looks like you have an outlet there to add a nice table lamp....See More
