Side sconces with two mirrors
Comments (17)Brutuses, The vanity we're installing is with two sinks in the 75" length. The CENTER of each sink is only 16 1/2" from the side wall. It sounds like you have 16" of counter top space plus the amount of space from the centerline of your sinks until you get to the side wall. That sounds to me like it would add up to at least 2' from the centerline of the sink to the side wall---plenty of elbowroom. I wasn't worried about bumping the sconces but rather bumping the wall with the elbow. Does that make sense? I asked because your layout looks very similar to mine....See More1 Mirror/2 Lights or 2 Mirrors/3 Sconces
Comments (15)We currently have a 60" vanity with overhead lights. Our bathroom is 5' x 10', and I read that I need 300 watts of light for that size bathroom. I'm sold on sconces for our remodel because of our aging eyesight. We'll have two sconces with one sink. I've looked at all kinds of mirror configurations, but what makes the most sense is to set the sconces into a large mirror so that the light is bounced around the room. Did you say in another post that your ceiling is only 7 1/2' tall? I'm not sure a chandelier would look so good. I think they're better in powder rooms and in spacious bathrooms. Instead, I would use an exhaust fan/light combination to put light and ventilation over the toilet and shower area. I wouldn't count on the vanity lights, door, and a decorative chandy to supply enough light for the other side of the room. You need light for cleaning the toilet and shower and if anyone reads while on the can....See MoreRoom for sconces for 29 1/2" mirror?
Comments (2)The mirror is a bit unusual in that it has two metal pieces that extend from the sides and attach to the wall. I think that the sconces you are proposing -- whose back plates are square -- would not look good juxtaposed with those circular metal pieces. I'd either select slimmer sconces whose visible metal trim was simpler/minimal or use a lamp over the mirror and roughly its width. The mirror doesn't appear to be very tall so you may have plenty of room between the top of the mirror and the ceiling for a lamp. -- amateur...See MoreSconces & Mirror for Powder Room: WWYD?
Comments (11)Hello! Just an alternative thought. Rather than scones on the wall, use a wider mirror and hang pendants from the ceiling instead...if you have that option. A larger mirror will help the space feel larger and pendants hanging in front of the edges of the mirror will throw more light.
