Restrictions on WS FB?

Haven't posted here for a while; been on FB. However, now the admins on FB have created more rules and regulations and are restricting comments. Anyone who has posted in both areas, have you noticed this? I need to switch back to this site so that I am not afraid of having my hand digitally slapped again.

Yep. They pretty much respond to every question by turning off comments and telling the poster to read the rules. I got the boot for daring to try to answer someone's question. Sad that Trudi's group has turned into such a toxic place. I'd suggest joining the one called Winter Sowing. Much friendlier towards people trying to learn.

The new rule against posting links came in December, so when I tried to post something, I was ghosted for two weeks. Then someone found an old post of mine, before all these rules, and commented, and I was hit with two warnings since advice I gave wasn't within the protocols. I protested, so I haven't been blocked for that, but I am afraid to post anymore. Sad. Glad I wasn't the only one.

Yes, my bad... I don't know why I typed BPR5ES, that is for the overhead valve engines. duh... The R in the BMPR4A is for resistor and will have a fine arc across the electrode. BM4A is non resistored. By the picture you have a 2 piece ign, the coil and the little box on the end of the wire is a ignitor, whick performs the same function as a set of points and condensor. This version is harder to test, you need a spare "good" ignitor to try first, they are not cheap to buy new just to try. I kept one in my box to loan out for this occasion. Ignitors fail most of the time, but sometimes its the coil. I am not aware of a way to test the ignitor with a volt/ohm meter. You want to seek out some help for a shop that works on the Kawi for proper diagnose of the problem.

A long time ago when the internet was so big, and GardenWeb didn't have as many forums, I received seeds from Alaska. On the pks., it said the seeds needed stratification in the fridge for a certain amount of time. I remember asking in a forum if I could just put the seeds outside in the winter, because I figured it was a logical thing to do. I was told no by a couple people, I should follow the pkg. directions. I decided to plant them out anyway. I didn't get any to germinate the next spring. I don't know if they blew away, got eaten by birds, or maybe they were just bad. I also attempted this with a few other seeds a few other years and got spotty germination. Trudi's idea of giving them a nice safe environment in cheap(or free) containers is innovative and great.(Kanuck in "See ... Winter/solstice Sowing" I believe this is a direct reference to Wsing when Americans using cheap plastic containers are mentioned. No one was recommending cheap throw away plastic containers before this forum.) I first attempted this a few years ago and to have whole containers full of seedlings in the spring was great. Many of them sprout so well, the containers looks like freshly grown grass! Since the success rate is so high, it gave me, and others, the ability to start hundreds of varieties in an easy and inexpensive manner that other wise it would of taken me years to attempt growing. California Poppy -direct sow or WS?

I received some Cal poppies from LittleoneFB (Fran) at a swap that she hosted years ago. She is a long time winter sower who lives near by and shares many of her seedlings with others. They were really pretty ones, "Linen White" and "Purple Gleam" (pastels, yum). They have reseeded every year since! I get a nice border of them along the driveway. They reseed true to color, I get a mix of cream and lavender. So I would say they seem to be pretty easy to WS and transplant, and they also reseed abundantly so direct sowing no doubt works well too - if you have plenty of seed.

Your flowers are beautiful, as everyone else has already stated. I just love your canterberry bells, the color is spectacular. There is a flower in back of the Alyssium in the first picture, it's at the far right in that picture, what is that plant? It appears to be pink but that may not be correct. I would love to know, it looks very striking, as all the rest of your flowers do. Please feel free to post more photos.

'The protocols'? What are these? Facebook (have never been on that site) or regarding the actual processes involved in seed sowing? Muchly baffled...although it must be said, this site is also utterly moribund.

Your posts need to reflect Trudi's initial outlines of the process. Anything "extra" you may have learned along the way is not allowed. So different from years ago on GW. No links, no garden jokes or memes. I just signed on to the other group. Thanks to the above poster for the advice.

Crikey. What, like some sort of patent? Insane...sowing has been done in autumn and winter since forever...I always thought it was both high-handed and arrogant, to lay claim to a particular process (using milkjugs) as though this was THE way, THE ONLY way and all dissenters will be punished. So even back in GW days, I recall a little group based on Trudi and her fanboys and girls which irritated me but was basically ignorable since the main thing, surely, is that no plants are gonna grow while still in their packets, so any way is worth exploring.

Anyway, come back here, ncrescue...no hand-slapping here...altho' it is the dreadful Houzz
