sliding door drape arrangement?

Hello- we put a new door in to our patio- we expanded it slightly and have a center opening instead of the French doors to the left. now my brain stopped working- curtain hardware ideas so the drapes can close all the way in the middle? We still need the curtains for the western/exposure midday sun /privacy

The rod in the photo I posted is about 12 1/2' long. Two end brackets and one in the center. All wood, but you might want iron for more strength.

We can't have the four hooks like before, but for the hardware I can find the rod is too long to only have three? Ideas pls

you need a support in the middle. Use a molly.

This photo is pretty bad from a cell phone and there was too much light coming in thru the windows but hopefully you'll get the idea. Our doors aren't sliders; the 2 panels on the right are fixed and the one on the left is a door that opens to the right. There is a gas fireplace to the left of the doors, so we had to take that small space into consideration too. The side panels are tone-on-tone pinch-pleated sheers with an embroidered design with striped fabric as on the chairs. There is a cool rod they are on. The shades also have a shell trim on the bottom that you can't see. I took the picture right after I got the table and chairs and have since added 2 big throw pillows in he stripe fabric, big wall art over the sofa and behind the table so it looks more put together.

In my more formal rooms, I have drapes that just barely rest on the floor (maybe 1/2" on the floor). For my sliding door, I swapped out vertical blinds for grommet drapes. In this case, I installed the drapes so they just skim over the floor. I find them easier to open. It also may depend on how much you open and close the drapes. We like to keep them closed at night and in the winter, but the sliding door is also used a lot to let the dog outside and back in. So there is a lot of opening and closing of the grommet drapes and I would not want them puddling.

Get drapes with hooks and rings, which will be much easier to slide on a rod, specially if you have to open and close every day.

For our large sliders we used Hunter Douglas Duette Vertiglide. I think they call them something else now, but basically a vertical honeycomb shade. It can open to one side or meet in the middle. We got an opaque fabric, so it blocks the sun/heat, but still lets light through.

Use 3 brackets, one on each end and one in the center. These are for looks only--they don't close all the way.

And yes, get curtains with some sort of heading, not just a rod pocket, which looks like a sheet. Then mount them on rings and drapery hooks. If you're using sheers, get extra wide--you need triple the width of the window to cover properly. Or if you need better light control, get curtains with blackout lining. If you have the budget, you might have them custom made for your space. The fabricator can help you with all the little details.

An old style traverse rod would be ideal. simple to open/close, no need to handle the drapery fabric.

Sorry all- to clarify im looking for the specific recommendation as far as what rod can have just a center bracket instead of 4 and still be good with the length. (So a hardware question- not about the curtains) we prefer the look of rod pockets and i dont want to get new curtains.

What is the length of the current rod? I have one that looks to be similiar and it has a support on each end and one in the middle. Why is the support to the right so far out compared to the left side?

I just goggled traverse rods and the first one came up to 198 in length. Your wall does not appear to be 16 ft in length.

@RNmomof2 zone 5 sorry I didn't see your question about the rods. The bracket supports are equally spaced, but the rods weren't at the time the photo was taken. They should be moved to be equal.

And no my wall is not 16' long. You probably should get a strong iron pole to span that distance, or have 4 or 5 brackets instead of 3.
