Actually i haven't shunned any one's Advice? I'm just stating that i want to use the display case that is lighted as a way to house my plants during the winter or when they are in hibernation and need humidity ...etc...etc... to survive e. I only mentioned the cp's because those are what some of my plants are..i wasnt asking for advice for the carnivorous plants because everyone in this forum has knowledge about cacti and succulent plants which are also more then half of my plants in my collection, i was stating that i have seen people online use repurposed display cases to house plants and was asking for advice from people (if any) had any experience on how to do that and any advice on what i should do to create it in the right way. I asked people on the Carnivorous Plant forums on there advice on the CP's aspect for help, and now im asking for people in this forum for there expertise on the succulent and cacti aspect on what could be done to do to this case.

No professional likes blue tape locators on their job, because usually it is a customer being picky. In your case, the blue tape is certainly justified; it is a poor sand job and a poor application of the finish material. You've got ripples, dishout, uneven stain application, streaks, bubbles in the finish...it should look better than that. In my opinion applying additional topcoats is not going to save this job, but I'm not the guy doing the work...so what do I know? Hope it all works out for you.

Assuming 3/4 inch tongue and groove solid beech. And water damage that does not include cupping. Totally unreasonable, unless you have a crew of experienced professionals or are willing to settle for poor results and spend a week at the chiropractor's and massage therapist afterward. Just prepping the edges with a hand-held sander would be a more than a full day working on hands and knees. After a day of waltzing with an orbital sander, you won't be moving very fast. If you edge first, trying to use the orbital sander the day after finishing the hand sanding will be really rough. Sanding 1500 square feet of anything in one day is physically a killer unless you are physically fit and experienced at waltzing with heavy floor machines. The day after you will be lucky to be able to move your arms to feed yourself. "Hitting it hard" with low grit is asking for swirl marks and a crappy finish, especially as the day wears on and your arms wear out and lose control. You need to do one coarse and one finish grit. Cleanup of all the sanding dust ... clean, let it settle and clean again ... easily a day you didn't allow for in your schedule. Dust can get stirred up by the breeze of your walking by, and it wrecks the finish. Application and drying time for any sealant ... allow one full day per coat. 1500 square feet is several hours of careful spreading. As for sealing it: Waterlox works well and can be hand-wiped on with a rag or spread with a lambswool applicator. 24 hours minimum between coats, 3 to 5 coats recommended. Bona and Glitz take experience to get a good coat. Waterlox is far more forgiving.

Correct me if im wrong, but I don't believe that floor is pre-finish it could have been at one time, but it looks like its been sanded. Murphy's can leave residue, but from you're first picture, it looks more like poor adhesion of the top coat of finish. The diagonal planks you see in the basement is your subfloor. Your Oak hardwood floors are nailed to it. Refinishing can be messy. this is where you job comes into play and seek out many professional to give bids. No professional worth his weight will charge for a bid. When you do, make sure you ask as many detailed questions as possible, and make sure they are specific about their process...meaning do they hang plastic? what brand of finish of stains and urethanes do they use. How many coats will be applied. Roughly their time frame to complete job. Will they remove baseboards? Shoe moulding? will they replace bad boards? will they address squeeking? Some of those will be a surcharge, but its better to ask and have them at least bid it, so you know going into it what you're getting. Im in the Midwest, so I cant say what east coast prices are. but best way to figure out, is to get those bids.
