That's enough to convince me I never want to see snow when there are still leaves on the trees. And what a wet miserable mess it must have been when melting and no power to your house :( I do understand your appreciation for everyone trying to help, working towards getting things back to normal - it kind of sheds a different light on what's important and whats important is people, an event like yours can really change priorities. I don't know what to say about your trees, it will probably be Spring before you know the extent of lasting damage there. The good news is, I suspect your perennial things, things lower, are going to surprise you and most will recover where you'd think crushed - those will be greeting you at the end of winter. I hope the next 4-5 months go really, really smoothly for you and you have quiet, uneventful, normal weather from here on out till Spring - I think you've paid your dues this year already :)

It could use more foliage. Not sure if it lost foliage due to inconsistent watering, cold winters, etc. I could not tell if the camellia is a hybrid, sasanqua or japonica from the leaves. Do you know? Does your pot have drainage holes in enough spots to allow for excellent drainage? The pot should have acidic, very well draining soil (not garden soil). The soil should also be kept as evenly moist as you can -not wet but not dry either-. The foliage needs morning sun only if it is a hybrid or japonica, reticulata. Sasanqua leaves can take more sun though. Mulch will minimize soil evaporation, protect from hot/cold extremes and provide some nourishment as the mulch decomposes. Plastic pots may get too hot in the summer and stress roots in contact with the plastic. Avoid weeds and grass in the pot as camellia roots are only about 4" deep, tiny ad fibrous so they compete with grass/weeds roots. Not sure what fertilizing program you are using but a fertilizer for camellias, azaleas and hydrangeas applied per label directions may be fine. Pinching may be useful to make the plant fill up with more foliage once the cause of the original leaf drop has been addressed.

The stem is being squeezed pretty good on one side in a sense with yarn because of having to tie it up to prop the split, this is okay right? Towards the end it does start spliting off more to one side and isn't so evenly split. Plastic wrap was all I had on hand and read I could use it as an alternative but it doesn't stretch well and ended up being a pain resulting in that mess. I'm going to buy graphing tape tomorrow. My main concern with unwrapping it and leaving it is the snap is a lot worse then that picture leads on because it's propped. Its really only hanging on by maybe a half centimeter give or take a few mm. [B]Is that really enough stem to support 7+ tomatoes if it scabs over?[/B] Also most of the stem is attached to the large sucker and not the main growing stem. Here's zoomed in picture where I highlighted the very end of the split, it stops at the horizontal line. It actually goes beyond where I marked it was hard to draw in zoom. The split curvs off drantically to the left as ,especially when it was hanging So I'm conflicted I'm inexperienced but my gut is telling me to rewrap the stem with graphing tape in hopes it reattach and heal. Its only a determinate so it really only has to hold out for another month-7weeks.
