I have Danby and had nothing like this on install. Call the fabricator, the sooner the better, to see what they will do to make this right. Have pictures of your slabs ready. Hopefully a pro will weigh in on whether this can be fixed.

I would not find those marks acceptable on a brand new counter (and Danby is expensive). I am not sure those marks can be repaired. You may need a new counter. When you run your finger over them, do they feel like cracks or rough?

Thank you! Unfortunately I do not have good pictures of the slabs but I’m hoping the stone house does. The stone was sent from them to the local fabricator. It gets worse look at the cracks and dings along the border edge.

Thank you! I am so glad to hear they can be buffer or honed in somehow. Hopefully they will come out and do that. I know that marble is delicate and with 2 kids I’m sure we will destroy it I just want to be the one that does the destroying. And I was hoping to at least enjoy the perfection until the appliances come.

The stun marks probably aren't coming out. You'd make a butter dish in the top that would be visible in low level light if you abraded enough to eliminate them even if they could be eliminated which I doubt. A drill and fill and you're trading one unnatural look for another.

I'll bet that top rode leaning against an unprotected rack from the shop to the jobsite. Measure the marks and his rack, please.

And you never seal over the top of etches. Rookie mistake.

I woud recommend speaking to fabricator. i think the stun marks could be buffed out since its honed. The water marks concern me, especially that they put a sealer on before it dried. I just recently had a problem with staining with a new quartzite countertop. they sealed them before whatever mystery stains were dried out- had no clue if it was water stains from being cut or adhesive glue that bled through. Bottom line is that the stains never absorbed, even after 2 months and different methods to help it along ( heat driers, poultice etc). The fabricator was very good about rectifying it, gave us no issues , and I had new counters installed yesterday. i chose a honed marble instead of the same quartzite. no issues apparent this time at install, so hopefully we are good! i wish you luck; i know how frustrating this sitation can be. Danby is a beautiful marble and i hope you get it fixed and enjoy it!

Thanks Joseph! Here’s a picture of It does look like the back wall piece was leaning up to the island and in what looks like almost the exact line. Would one piece bumping on another cause this? Craziest part is that when they truck arrived they asked to jump the curb to drive to my front door. You also see that if had been raining that morning there are clusters of spots that looks like small etches rain?

It could. I wouldn't own a top that could be etched by raindrops no matter how natural, but that's just me. I'll take old fashioned plastic.

Mystery solved! The small chips along the back wall perfectly measure up with the line of stun marks on the island. It was definitely damaged in transit. They are sending a manger out to take a look. Would you accept an attempt at repair or demand all new stone?

Well im gad you have an answer! I would allow manager to come out, let them have attempt at a repair. If you are nor sataified wirh the results, then I would request a replacement. Hipefully ir is a fix that will work, as opposed to having them removed, and finding other slabs that you like. but even if you have to replace, its better to do it now than waiting.

You may owe them a chance to repair by local law and it's the right thing to do. You may get lucky if they're not too deep. Don't hold out for perfection please. Your best bet is removing most of them without creating a butterdish in the top that's visible in low-level light and a nice discount.

Remember, you will probably always see them; you can't "un-see" them. When they're done, ask yourself if a buyer's home inspector would notice them. If the answer is "no", you've got a good repair.
