Add some pics of what you like in your ideabook.

Yup, just added a picture in ideabook. And yeah probably it’s the paint, gotta learn how to paint! Any youtube videos you know of that guides you on painting or what kind of brush, tools etc etc to use?

Come on Rohit - You can go to Youtube and type in 'how to paint a wall' and many, many videos come up.

So the picture you added is in reference to your bathroom and does not give an idea of a living room or dining room.

What is bright, lively and elegant in photos that you upload to your ideabook. This is where you can begin.

It looks like a lovely home for you and, if you go to Houzz and type in condo living room or any room, you will start to get ideas of what you like.

Lay out a 'floating' conversational seating arrangement and coffee table with tape, center it with the fireplace as the focal point. Then choose a rug size that holds the furniture pieces comfortably, or at least so that the front legs of seating are on the rug.

Then use your rug or large piece of art to determine the style and colors to be used in the room.

Paint stores are super helpful in selecting paint, brushes, rollers, pans, etc. Personal favorite helps are small paint containers with a handle I cause for brush painting, old socks I can take off when leaving paint area and not tracking drips through the house, rubber or latex gloves.

Also....Take some more pics when you can.

@tracefloyd thank you so much for the advice! I’m trying to visualize the placement of the way you just described it. Lot of of good ideas on Houzz. Thank you @Yayagal for suggesting to search on the app. Learning something new everyday!
@valinta That’s helpful! Thank you I didn’t know Paint stores can help out too. New to this whole concept.
@shirlpp Sure, what area would you like to see?

Position a sofa and two side chairs in an 'L' shape facing the slider and fireplace, but one leg of the 'L' should be on this side of the fireplace (from the camera angle). You'll have a nice big Living Room and the furniture will define the space and delineate it from the Kitchen/Dining area. Place the coffee table in the center of the arrangement.

It looks like the chandelier encroaches too far into the Living Room. Move it away from the fireplace. You will have less room for the Dining table but that's fine. You're lucky to have a swag chandelier to move it and the table where you can. Near the bar or against the wall to the right of the camera.

This concept is not to scale. Somehow the rug ended up square in this rough sketch but it should be a rectangle with a 2 foot border around the perimeter except for the open side:

Thank you so much @Tracefloyd any idea where can the TV go?

Again this is a concept...proper placement of the furnishings requires room dimensions. But this allows either the TV or the fireplace to be enjoyed.

The large area rug will make the room elegant. Also a large canvas as a focal point. These two things plus proper lighting make any space sophisticated.

Closer pics of the area in red.

What does the fireplace really look like?

Is there space on the fireplace wall for a tv?

What are the dimensions from the wall with the heating to the fireplace?

Benjamin Moore Healing Aloe is a beautiful bright color. It would be a nice contrast to the warm tones in the room. It is a cool Blue color but with a touch of warmth. I think it would bring this space some life. Use white and blue in your furnishings and decor. Paint the walls in flat paint. Flat paint gives a lot of depth.

BTW the drapes are too short, they should reach the floor. And get white. And the light pattern from the chandeliier is a little too much. How about a drum shade for a soft light.

I used Ben Moore Visualizer for this sample. The trim is Chantilly Lace.

Here is a nice bright canvas I find interesting. This a what they call a canvas print. We have several of them and they are great..look good and are lightweight and easy to hang. It would be nice hung above the mantel or resting on the mantel. Get a large one. This is a fun site to browse and reasonable prices. I have provided the link.

@tracefloyd this designing tool is awesome! Really love the way you portray it.

@shirlpp the wall to the fireplace would be around 16ft

I would consider cutting the Healing Aloe by 25% to make it even brighter for a room with only one window.

Go to the Benjamin Moore store and get free sample paint chips, bring them home and check them out in the room. If you want a custom mix, buy a quart you can use as a sample, and paint a section on the wall. But Healing Aloe is light color to begin...as long as it is lighter than what is already on your walls it should be fine.

Check out Benjamin Moore Whispering Spring. Brighter than the Healing Aloe. Now that I see more of the space, is there room for the dining table to be moved further away from the fireplace?

I can push the table to a corner maybe?

A dining table against a wall will reduce the seating but the idea is okay to have enough room around the fireplace to have a nice conversation area and area rug.

It's hard to tell from photos but it looks like the chandelier is hung where a table under it would impede on the sofa of the conversation area centered around your fireplace. I visualize the sofa as being in line with the pile of items to the right of the fireplace.

A corner dining table is not desireable, if your table is too large, I would consider getting a smaller one...and round ones leave more room around them.

Did you move in? Do not push the table in a corner.
