Soaker Tub vs. Air Bubble Tub?
Comments (12)The Bain Ultra tubs (and I would think most airbubble tubs) are very low maintenance unlike many whirlpool tubs that need monthly cleansing cycles. Resale-wise I think alot of people are looking for a master bath with a tub that does something therapeutic, so I don't think it matters if it's air or whirlpool. If you're not worried about resale, I would say do what you feel is right for your lifestyle. Having the air gives you the choice of using the tub as a soaker or as a therapeutic option if your back is hurting, you've pulled a muscle, etc. With the soaker, soaking is the only option you have. I personally, like to leave my options open. Just my $0.02....See MoreFree standing v. drop in tub
Comments (3)I also have experience with both. Naturally, I agree it is a matter of personal taste, but a few additional pros/cons: * Having the deck to put candles, soaps, extra books, glass of wine, bath oils, whatever, can be very nice. * When comparing costs, remember that you save money on installation of the freestanding styles because you don't need to buy the stone deck top or tiles, and the labor to build the surround, etc. So while many freestanding styles cost a little more, depending on what models you choose and what type of deck top you would select, the freestanding may end up being less expensive. * To take full advantage of the beauty of many freestanding styles, it may depend greatly on your layout. They seem particularly well suited to being placed in front of beautiful windows, with ample space around them. Personally, I think they lose something if they are sort of shoehorned in somewhere. But of course, that's just a matter of judgment. Good luck! I think you can't go wrong either way--both styles can be beautiful....See MorePlease suggest a 5' long drop in air jet tub
Comments (3)Jacuzzi made our son's bathtub which is an air jet tub with a built in arm and back rest. It's actually not badly priced around $700. I added a little thing that recirculates hot air into the tub so that it stays warm longer. This is a construction photo, but you can sort of see the shape:...See Morewhich free standing bath tub?
Comments (5)I purchased a free-standing, composite soaking tub from Devon & Devon (D&D) (they have a clawfoot, but I chose a different style). Two advantages of composite over acrylic: it holds the heat, and scratches or stains can be easily "buffed out" with light sand paper. The D&D tub has a satin-like matte finish. I use Windex to clean it. D&D is pricey, but after trying out tubs for months, it was my favorite, and I was willing to wait several more months for delivery. Other brands I considered: Wetstyle (from Canada), Bain Ultra, Toto, Kohler, Duravit, Blu Bathworks, Mti, Hydrosystems, Axor, and T&L. Zucchetti and V&A tubs were tempting - but I didn't like the look of the exposed drain pipe....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
