Does Lauzon American Cherry floor wear well?
Comments (3)I have Lauzon engineered wood flooring and the finish is very durable!! I have red oak natural and not the American cherry that you are looking at. We don't have any dogs, but we get plenty of foot traffic including pointed heeled shoes on occasion. It's been about 2 years and I am amazed at how well the finish is holding up. There is a portion of flooring in the FR that gets a lot of strong afternoon sun coming through the sliding glass door. After 2 years, I cannot see any sign of fading from this sun exposure. Dh and I have been very pleased with the quality of our Lauzon floor. Which ever floor you choose, I hope you will post a follow up. For us, it was such a good feeling to have wood flooring after years and years of old dirty carpet. I hope you enjoy your new floors as much as we have! Comments (26)@iroll: Your floor is great! Yeah, I can see that there are a lot of different colours in the tile. It seems to give it some depth. I really love the uniform look. Do you notice seams at all? So i *think* I've decided on thick stripes running across the width of the galley. I got a quote for the yellow and off white marmoleum ("natural corn" and "barbados"). @deedles: maybe the butter colour you mention is the "natural corn"? The yellow is a perfect yellow. Yes, expensive, but really lovely and more vibrant that the vinyl. My thought process around the use of stripes is that I can use the 3X1-foot pieces, which are less expensive than the 1X1s. @a2gemini: the marmoleum is cork-backed, I believe, but don't quote me on that. The dealer I talked to also recommended a cushy underpad for it, so it seems like it would be pretty easy on the back. My mother is telling me to get cork ;-)...See Morewear/scratch resistant flooring-help
Comments (1)One thought for you might be Amtico. It is Luxury Vinyl Tile that is commercial quality. They have 3", 4.5", and 6"x 36" wide "planks" in many wood "species". Also have stone looks. Not cheap, but doesn't look cheap either and it will hold up to life and your dogs! (: We're putting it in the majority of our house. Comments (5)Wood and water don't mix. Changes in humidity or tracking in a bit of water on top of the floor shouldn't be an issue but if you are going to have seepage at doors or windows or rain blowing in through openings, find something other than wood. An oceanfront condo is no different than a regular house that might be a block or a mile from the beach in regards to wood flooring and the effects of moisture....See Morepalimpsest
