The Best C daylilies 2023
Comments (24)Lots of eye catching Cs here! Love them all. I have had to think of parameters of ”best” rather than ”favorite” and that makes a difference in selections! Creature of the Night-great height, buds, and multiplies well Clown Parade-ditto on everything already said about this plant Crystal Rubies-just an eyecatching bloom with lots of buds Cheddar Cheese-was there ever a cultivar more aptly named? A standout in the garden Come Sail Away made the list due to resilience from pot to garden with good multiplication of fans. As Celeste said, it does draw your eye to it Cameroon Night was also fabulous. Cowboys Don’t Cry is one that never disappoints....See MoreYour best I daylilies 2023
Comments (17)Even though there have been other postings of IN HIGH REGARD, I decided to add mine to the mix. It is one of my favorites in the garden. It is such a clean looking flower. ISABELLE ROSE: Perfection!!! I am frequently disappointed by the Stout Medal winners, but not this one! INQUIRE WITHIN: Another outstanding plant. I love the color combination and plant habit is not too shabby. It is well branched and budded. INDY SHOCKER: Not the best picture. This is the most difficult daylily bloom to photograph regardless of the lighting conditions. It is a well branched and budded plant. Blooms for a long time. The only drawback is that it is slow to increase. Honorable Mentions: IRON WARRIOR: A newer Bennett intro. It is a big bloom. I am hoping that it continues to put out blooms like this. IT'S THE RAGE: Hoping that it gets taller, but I like the teeth. That is it for me. David...See MoreYour best 5 J daylilies 2023
Comments (15)There are many wonderful plants representing the letter J. Jerry Hyatt and Joan Derifield are excellent plants. June Torer and Jewel of the Oasis certainly would look good in my garden. J.P. Moneybags: Great grower. Tall and blooms over a long period of time. JUBILEE BALL: A wonderful Bennett intro. I just love how the blooms seem to look at me. I love this shade of pink. JELLYROLL MORTON: It sat in a pot for a year, but found a home in the ground this past Spring. It even sent up a rebloom scape, which is rare in my area. This has got to be a winner in my eyes (apparently in several people's eyes on this forum). JELLYFISH JEALOUSY: This is a wonderful Reed intro. It blooms for a very long time. I divided the very large clump this past summer. I kept five fans because it is outstanding in a clump. I've heard that it is slow to increase, but it must like my garden. For a diploid and a UFO, it makes very large fans. JAZZ ME BLUES: Another Bennett intro. A great increaser and I love the bloom. Will occasionally throw a pattern. I don't always like to follow rules so this is an honorable mention: JACK BE NIMBLE. Gold is not my favorite color, but this plant just pumps out blooms and rebounds from continued abuse - dividing. I dug up the entire clump in the Spring and moved it to a new location and was unaffected. That is all from me. David...See MoreThe best O daylilies 2023
Comments (13)I have two O's to contribute. One is not my best grower, but is one of my all time favorites just because of the face. With the definite lean towards UF's the thrill of ruffles seems to be fading for some, but not for me. That's what drew me to daylilies back in the day. WOW! look at those ruffles! So here is one of my all time favorite ruffles. This is a shot of one of it's first blooms in 2015. I've lost it 2-3 times (it is a sev), but I have always replaced it: Orchids and Gold (along with another long time favorite of mine, Sour Puss): My other one is no surprise. It's just been a work horse for me. Even in this years exceptionally high heat and drought, it flushed it's little heart out again and again. Orange Smoothie: Maryl...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
