Comments (8)Don, talking about trimming trees. Our city and power company apparently go so tired of us complaining about the loss of power almost every time it rained, so they got together and hired a large tree trimming company to trim all the city and private trees that was anywhere near the power lines. The tree trimming guys (have not seen a woman yet) have been in the neighborhood for a couple of weeks now, during rain, frost, and high winds. The guys are dressed in major rain gear, the trucks are massive and the buckets are large enough for a couple of guys. I think this is the best preventive measure I've seen re loss of power. But of course they waited until the weather people kept screaming about all the storms that was coming our way....See MoreO/T For all Texans & West Coaster's
Comments (9)Hi Y'all, Siam, I'm happy to meet you buddy...I too love Cannas, and am starting to collect a few for my tropical landscape. Ryan, ever go up to Cloudcroft? I just love it up there. My farm is very small, just over three acres, one of which I plant in different types of gourds for my glass work. I do have a large veggie garden every year though. Honeybunny2, My older sister was Miss Ft. Sam Houston in the 60's...I might of seen you in one of the Fiesta parades! T.J. I make elderberry, rhubarb, and mulberry wines. Mostly because that's what I have growing around the farm! hahahaha... Knotz, My brother Alex was at Ft. Hood for awhile. Yes, we must share photos of our work...I love your Mac work very much! Kristy, I grow a lot of gourds just to look for that special one that lends itself to my glass work. I try to grow large gourds like African Bushel, and Giant Bird House gourds, but I love all kinds of gourds and grow many different varieties. I bet the one you have is the Italian gourd...yummy when small..large...(not so much)!hahaha... Did you know you can eat Luffa gourds when small? You should E-mail me sometime, I may have seeds I can share if you wish. I have a younger sister who works for the Boerne School district. I love the Hill Country, and I spend a lot of time there when I go home to visit. Comfort, Boerne, Kerrville, Fredericksburg. In fact Sue and I plan on coming down in June so we can go to the Hanging Tree Saloon to hear the "Who'it's" play in Bracken. Maybe we can stop in and visit some of ya? Comments (5)I've been haunting Craigslist for months in search of dining and office furniture. It's amazing how much eeyew junky stuff is out there, and over-priced, to boot. Finally, my luck began to change. I found an incredible 80-year old carved walnut dining table and 6 chairs. The name of the company and the year it was made, 1927, are stamped underneath. Incredible condition, truly. The table has two butterfly wing extenders underneath, so it goes from 42x60 to 90. $800, and I feel lucky to have found it. Just last week a local kitchen showroom advertised on CL an incredible KraftMaid office set-up, Dresden cabinets in cherry stained chocolate, complete with braiding detail even in the crown molding, yadda yadda, and granite top, 9'x5'. It was in their showroom, just 2 years old and absolutely like new. $500!!! These are office cabs, so most of the bottoms are file drawers. They're switching out the display for a new line of display cabs. AND they delivered them for free, too! AND, they even agreed to let me order some matching bookcases AT THEIR COST! They're every bit as beautiful as my brand new Medallion kitchen cabinets....See MoreHow big do these get for you? Zone 7 East Coasters in particular
