Hi, hdmg! We live in Wisconsin where there is a huge Amish population. However, the "Amish" furniture stores in our area are very dodgy -- the furniture might be Amish-made, but it's just kit furniture that's put together by Amish and it's sold at the stores owned by non-Amish. Be sure to do some research before you buy to make sure what you're getting is truly designed and built by the Amish and not just cheaper stuff sold under their trusted name by the unscrupulous to make a buck.

We are looking for good quality, safe children's bedroom furniture for our six year old. Our local furniture store is featuring InRoom furniture, a "young" company with furniture made in Indonesia. We have also looked on-line at Bunk-and Loft Factory which appears to be made in the USA. Has anyone had any experience with these companies or can recommend sturdy, good quality non-toxic kids bedroom furniture companies? Thanks very much.

You may want to start saving inspiration rooms you love; it will really help if you have a direction. I would purchase the rug fist vs bedding and cushions so you have a style to build on. Be sure to use various colors, patterns and textures so it feels more interesting The headboard is high and I think art above each night stand would be more complimentary and use small brass lamps for a modern look. You could add the sign on another wall If you need a bedskirt, a more tailored style would feel more modern Dresser and tv wall - mirror, plant, chair, art, baskets

It kind of depends on the furniture brand/line as to whether or not it looks bleh. In general, I can’t stand bedroom “suites” or sets. HOWEVER, there are some high-end makers who do a really good job of it. Obviously a $1,999 five-piece bedroom set from Rooms To Go or Ashley isn’t going to fall into the “really good job of it” category.
