The best A daylilies 2023
Comments (24)Debra....you are opening a can of worms asking for seedling photos....I have dozens! They are still on my phone but once I have time I'll share them. My Awaken the Dawn never shows peach tones like yours. Mine is a light blush pink. It looks pretty either way! David....Awaken the Dawn opens perfectly nearly every time. It's so beautiful I have spent a lot of time going back to the clump to stare at it! And it's fertile both ways. I haven't yet seen the kids but hope I'll see some this summer. Thank you, Sherry! I have missed you all....See MoreThe best D daylilies 2023
Comments (18)We have grown Destined to See for many years, but in the effort to downsize, it will leave the garden this year. I like Diver Down, Dancing Flamingos, Desert Icicle, and Desperate Housecats. Here are a few of our best D's. It was a great year for late bloomers in our garden. By the time they bloomed, the temperatures had moderated somewhat and there was some rain. (June was blisteringly hot and dry). This was Delinquent Doll's second year to bloom and it did not disappoint. It has nice sized flowers and lots of them. It sets seeds too--over 100 last season. Deadliest Catch is another late bloomer. This one is not overly tall (you all know we like them tall), but it is a good parent for us. Double Blazing Busby is new to the garden (planted in 2021, 2022 first year to bloom), but so far it has been impressive. Beautiful full double on a scape with nice height. That's all for me. Comments (19)Mister Mayor is indeed vigorous and floriferous. Mystery of the Ages here looks very promising. Martha Edson Norris, though short, is very showy with its large blooms. My Pet Dragon looks interesting. An acquaintance likes that one the best among Selmans in that range. Malaysian Marketplace is early here; rather slow to multiply. I see that Mediterranean Sailor is a Hanson out of Benchmark. Some others I certainly would recommend. Minnesota Nice --a vigorous and floriferous Emmerich I very much like the color of Mexicali Blues (Rice), but bud count is limited. Mahogany Magic --an evergreen that is well budded. There may have been some slightly-off years, but definitely not last year. Some people don't like this color. I definitely do. Magnetic Springs (Hanson). Clean here this past year and an appealing color. Of course, Morning Mood, though it is front row. Makayla Jenelle --good performer and color from Floyd Boatwright Mitch Lynd, Money Maker, Man Eater, and Miss Moneypenney are also worthy of consideration, but I have already posted too many....See MoreThe best O daylilies 2023
Comments (13)I have two O's to contribute. One is not my best grower, but is one of my all time favorites just because of the face. With the definite lean towards UF's the thrill of ruffles seems to be fading for some, but not for me. That's what drew me to daylilies back in the day. WOW! look at those ruffles! So here is one of my all time favorite ruffles. This is a shot of one of it's first blooms in 2015. I've lost it 2-3 times (it is a sev), but I have always replaced it: Orchids and Gold (along with another long time favorite of mine, Sour Puss): My other one is no surprise. It's just been a work horse for me. Even in this years exceptionally high heat and drought, it flushed it's little heart out again and again. Orange Smoothie: Maryl...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
