Best G daylilies 2023
Comments (19)GETTING AIRBORNE, never disappoints even in years of drought. Tall, massive plant with sturdy scapes, great bud count, hardy and vigorous, huge blooms, dark velvet purple. Clumps up quickly. I've divided it several times in the last few years but somehow it's always a big clump. The only negative is I've yet to get a mature pod off it but pollen is strong. GLORY IN RED, an oldie but goodie. Strong thick scapes, high bud count, blooms appear larger than registered size, will set pods if you wave pollen in the air....LOL GREYWOODS SHADES OF LACE, admittedly this was brand new in 2022 but you gotta love a daylily when the 2 tiny fans pump out multitudes of blooms much larger than the plant! I have high hopes for this one. GOLDEN GLOBE, Kate gave me a piece of hers and I second her nomination. It is a great daylily with amazing color. GENTLE ROSE, another oldie but goodie, nothing fancy, a little on the short side....but rock hardy, healthy, blue-green dormant foliage, purest pink blooms in abundance....See MoreYour best 5 K daylilies 2023
Comments (16)My favorite is Katherine Marin. That clump shot is especially divine. I don't have many K's. And a couple are repeats of what's already been shared. However, this one is my favorite of all my daylilies. She has a place in my heart and garden forever. She has the elaborate ruffled edges of the southerns but is a hardy northern daylily. Very fertile and I have some gorgeous seedlings out of her. KITTY BANNERMAN ONE daylily but had to show 3 photos because I couldn't choose which one I liked best! The downside is she is very hard to obtain. I got mine years ago before the hybridizer (Weitz) stopped selling. Another nomination would be KATHRYN CALDWELL, already posted here. Mine grows quite tall with sturdy scapes, large flowers, good increase, bud count is quite good KINGDOM BOUND is fairly new for me but seems like it will be a good plant. It is very hard to pod but it will set pods with certain pollen. Mine isn't a gorgeous clump yet like Mantis's. KENNESAW CROSSFIRE, fairly new but is looking great so far. KANSAS KITTEN, everybody who grows this knows how good this one is. I usually forget I have it in favor of larger, newer daylilies. But in spite of being planted in the worst part of the garden in the shade, and being subjected to neglect and drought conditions, it just keeps on being great....See MoreThe 5 best M DAYLILIES 2023
Comments (19)Mister Mayor is indeed vigorous and floriferous. Mystery of the Ages here looks very promising. Martha Edson Norris, though short, is very showy with its large blooms. My Pet Dragon looks interesting. An acquaintance likes that one the best among Selmans in that range. Malaysian Marketplace is early here; rather slow to multiply. I see that Mediterranean Sailor is a Hanson out of Benchmark. Some others I certainly would recommend. Minnesota Nice --a vigorous and floriferous Emmerich I very much like the color of Mexicali Blues (Rice), but bud count is limited. Mahogany Magic --an evergreen that is well budded. There may have been some slightly-off years, but definitely not last year. Some people don't like this color. I definitely do. Magnetic Springs (Hanson). Clean here this past year and an appealing color. Of course, Morning Mood, though it is front row. Makayla Jenelle --good performer and color from Floyd Boatwright Mitch Lynd, Money Maker, Man Eater, and Miss Moneypenney are also worthy of consideration, but I have already posted too many....See MoreFive best R daylilies 2023
Comments (21)Here are mine (and btw, I do concur about Raspberry Suede being a great daylily. Every year it is one of the best plants in the garden. Somehow I always overlook it and forget to take it's photo). Here's one not many people grow but should. This is a Culver and it is one of the only daylilies that reblooms in my New Hampshire garden. This plant has wonderful plant habits, pristine foliage and sturdy scapes, blooms profusely and has great color. REBECCA HOCKRIDGE RUNNING IN THE RAIN, makes the list every time; a big plant with great color, large blooms, hardy and robust. Sets pods like crazy. Another vote for RUBY SPIDER. What can you say other than it's fantastic? Every....single....year. Even in year's of severe drought. This was last summer where it never got watered and the ground was bone dry. REMINDS ME OF FIREWORKS, I got this from Nancy in KY and I'm offering my photo of it as well. Reliable, year after year. Great size, color and performance. Very eyecatching in a clump. REGINA SITKO, I seem to be 'copying' other people's nominations today! But this is a great one. I have one more to squeeze in and it's another one already shown. It (and Come Sail Away) has been the best of the Guy Pierce intros in terms of hardiness and vigor. Most don't do that well here but this one is good. And it sets lots of pods for me. It's truly lovely. ROSEMARIE LOUISE...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
