Comments (34)Oh yes, I know. I actually had someone come and give me an estimate for planting an oak in that spot, and was all set to go ahead when my dad died and I got sidetracked. Then life got in the way and in the meantime I thought it would be a good opportunity to plant an ornamental tree. I have such a wooded lot that there's not a lot of space or sun, so this gives me the chance to plant something different. I have 40 other oaks, lol. I was looking at weeping cherries (which is what I REALLY wanted), redbuds and dogwoods, in particular as well as a few others, and decided on the redbud. I had actually originally considered a maple - I love the color of maples in the fall - but since there's an established garden here I thought the maple might wreak havoc on it. So I went the ornamental route! :) Dee...See MoreJoin the Alba and Moss Rose Share 2022!
Comments (119)@portlandmysteryrose aww, thanks. There is a good bit of room where I am at presently (rural, 1.0+/- acre) and to have any more space simply means carving out new space from the dreadful lawn (I hate lawns for several reasons, hehe). It's still early in the process, but I've finally found a home that I've put an offer in on and things are moving forward: this home is rural and on over 2 acres. Sure, a lot is wooded (love my forests), but there is a bunch of great, sunny space for gardens and my roses. No lie, I'm terrified, but things will work out just fine. You know; I didn't know that Gabrielle Noyelle was a rarer moss! I do love her soft apricot blooms, and plant habit aside, I figure the blooms are as close as I'll ever get to having 'Safrano' in the garden here in the North! Comments (48)@dianela7bnorthal Good Evening, Dianela,, Soring & summer my roses were all doing well. I just had Lavendar Veranda delivered a month ago and she’s leafed out nicely w/ a few blooms. However, it started raining every 3 days, 2 weeks ago. It is humid or ground is almost always damp. No BS on Lavender Veranda. She is in a very sunny spot 10+ hours sun-all day! She is on hill drains well. I don’t have it as humid as you and its not feeling humid now…. but the soil stays damp and rains too much. BTW, “New 2022-2023 Proven Winners , Houzz thread show new Reminiscent Roses. I have Reminiscent Pink & Crema and they are amazingly disease resistant!! Esp. the Crema. Neither get BS. R Pink-I saw a tad of mildew. R Crema can sit in soggy soil ( from too much rain) & grow as if it‘s no problem!-no fungus ever!!!!!...See Moreoursteelers 8B PNW
