Your Best E daylilies 2023
Comments (20)I can't comment on the plant habit of Ethereal SC (first year). Its color is a clear lavender, part of Hanson's obsessive quest for purity in that color. Chateau Belair has a bit more orchid tones; it is described as "lilac." I hope that the plant habit of Ethereal is taller than that of Chateau (though at the estate, Chateau is taller than at my residence). El Shaddai is one I would recommend with some notations. Its blooms are less cookie cutter than those of many cultivars, and it is a bit on the short side. Escape Into Fantasy I would recommend. It is heavy blooming, out of Point of Divergence. And I didn't realize that I had missed Existential Avatar. Vigorous and well budded. A bit of a space hog....See MoreBest F daylilies 2023
Comments (28)I love the form and color of Forest God. I hate to hear that about Forever and for Always, the blooms are so pretty. Last year was its 1st bloom season, did not do great but I am pretty sure it rebloomed. I like those pinks, David! Brad, that color on Fiordiligi is so nice. FOREVER REDEEMED looks nice in everyone's pictures. I talk myself out of that one because I have so many of that style. Fire In the Hole, Kay, but my favorite is firecracker Parade. Kate, Flying fox must be so impressive at that size! Fried Green Tomatoes is an impressive grower, isn't it? Mine was 3 years old this year, not sure mine has multiplied quite so well as yours. It has such a long bloom season though, it was a major bud builder this year. Nancy, I have Fiesta Latina here too, and it is a great plant. The only reason I don't post it often, my camera does not capture the color as nice as you see it in person. I agree about Fox Point too, I would have posted that one if I had a picture of it. Debra, Faith That Moves Mountains and Fighting Fire are amazing!...See MoreBest G daylilies 2023
Comments (19)GETTING AIRBORNE, never disappoints even in years of drought. Tall, massive plant with sturdy scapes, great bud count, hardy and vigorous, huge blooms, dark velvet purple. Clumps up quickly. I've divided it several times in the last few years but somehow it's always a big clump. The only negative is I've yet to get a mature pod off it but pollen is strong. GLORY IN RED, an oldie but goodie. Strong thick scapes, high bud count, blooms appear larger than registered size, will set pods if you wave pollen in the air....LOL GREYWOODS SHADES OF LACE, admittedly this was brand new in 2022 but you gotta love a daylily when the 2 tiny fans pump out multitudes of blooms much larger than the plant! I have high hopes for this one. GOLDEN GLOBE, Kate gave me a piece of hers and I second her nomination. It is a great daylily with amazing color. GENTLE ROSE, another oldie but goodie, nothing fancy, a little on the short side....but rock hardy, healthy, blue-green dormant foliage, purest pink blooms in abundance....See MoreThe best O daylilies 2023
Comments (13)I have two O's to contribute. One is not my best grower, but is one of my all time favorites just because of the face. With the definite lean towards UF's the thrill of ruffles seems to be fading for some, but not for me. That's what drew me to daylilies back in the day. WOW! look at those ruffles! So here is one of my all time favorite ruffles. This is a shot of one of it's first blooms in 2015. I've lost it 2-3 times (it is a sev), but I have always replaced it: Orchids and Gold (along with another long time favorite of mine, Sour Puss): My other one is no surprise. It's just been a work horse for me. Even in this years exceptionally high heat and drought, it flushed it's little heart out again and again. Orange Smoothie: Maryl...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
