Novice-need advice on cymbidium and den leaf problems (pics inc.)
Comments (4)I think your cymbidiums are fine. Several of my cymbidiums originally came with dark freckles on the leaf tips/edges as well - negative for virus. Subsequent new growth were spot-free. I think it's "normal" and prob. has to do with fertilizer/moisture conditions at the grower's. I notice this esp. with oncidium leaves as well. The dimpling on the the dendrobium is a little more worrisome - might have previously had spider mite problems. Keeping room humidity up should control possible mites outbreak. I quarantine all new plants for 3-4 weeks to see what bugs/issues crop up before letting them join the others. As Jane has already noted, both are high light plants. Looks almost like you bought them all as a matched set! It's all attractive, but it's adding to the monochromatic look. Maybe you can use a few of these pieces elsewhere in the house and bring in some pictures or prints with some brighter colors? You also have a lot of framed photos scattered around, all in what looks to be dark colored frames. Another inexpensive idea would be to replace those with either silvery frames or colored frames. Target is one of the best places to buy frames IMO. You could also look for some small vases, bowls, glassware or pottery in colors to mix in with the frames on the shelves. Another idea -- a couple more live plants. The green floor plant really stands out in that sea of brown. You could use a couple more, maybe some kind of trailing plant on one or both of the top shelf of the units on either side of the TV. Since it seems like you have green in your drapes, I'd focus on bringing in some more green tones. Maybe a shade lighter than the green throw on the sofa, just for a bit more contrast. Finally, the wicker chair by the fireplace seems all alone. I'd pull it closer to the other seating area -- just nudge it a little closer, maybe a couple feet. Sometimes photos can be deceiving, but it looks like that could work....See MoreUpstairs Den Advice
Comments (4)Not sure what you want from us. Is this a space the kids will be in and use or an office ? I think if the TV is not used now by the kids then the space will not be used by them once it is your office . But to me if all you need is a desk and a chair then go for it. You don’t need storage or file cabinet or printer maybe a bit more info. Do youmean the space opens into the bedrooms ? My son and DIL law had there home office in a loft space it wass filled with all the things an office needs so a very utilized space but no kids allowed....See MoreNeed advice to make family room into office/den and tv room
Comments (3)I would float a sofa in the center of the room with the tv on the wall opposite of the door. I would place a desk on the wall where the door is and a storage unit in the hallway. here are some renderings I made Here is where you can purchase each item shown Rug- https://www.luluandgeorgia.com/products/marisol-indoor-outdoor-rug Sofa- https://www.lightology.com/index.php?module=prod_detail&prod_id=1125044&option_id=1125057&utm_content=9851002-02290NZZ&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmtGjBhDhARIsAEqfDEcDfO0hVdYyCEiZhEzGT0_nqvpbQcsCbnmGZzZhFlzQ4Etjypt2RUcaAvTHEALw_wcB Chair- https://www.maisonsdumonde.com/FR/fr/p/fauteuil-en-croute-de-cuir-camel-santiago-121926.htm Media Console- https://www.westelm.com/products/mid-century-media-console-large-h418/?catalogId=71&sku=7668804&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Furniture%20%3E%20TV%20%26%20Media%20Stands&region_id=669950&cm_ite=7668804_14464751978&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmtGjBhDhARIsAEqfDEf_R7P8SGqdVBCt86AQG2HGcMyWZGR-Mo-0mt5ggB7gvi8YihpQAyYaAoNCEALw_wcB Desk- https://www.westelm.com/products/mid-century-desk-acorn-h209/?pkey=s~mid%20century%20desk~50 Storage Unit- https://www.westelm.com/products/mid-century-chifforobe-h1144/?catalogId=71&sku=4664991&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Furniture%20%3E%20Dressers&region_id=669950&cm_ite=4664991_14464751978&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmtGjBhDhARIsAEqfDEeQ5Au8X6vgJp_KLp2QWAENTx7mBZsuRo2gPGGlRDN2GBkTd0PF5rYaAse8EALw_wcB...See Moreschwietergirl
