Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Mid Century Modern Exterior Paint -- Help Please Thanks

Hello,

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I'm a few weeks out from painting the exterior of my midcentury modern home.

The overall goal is to restore -- NOT to remodel or try to be "on trend".

The front of the house is on a hill and faces SOUTH but doesn't get a ton of light

The rear of the house faces NORTH and is also open to EAST and WEST and gets a lot of light

I'm planning to go with a not too bright, warm white with a darker neutral for the fascia and trim

Right now, my top choice for the walls is Behr Swiss Coffee.

My top color choice for the fascia and trim is Behr Granite Boulder which is a medium gray neutral color (with some green) that is a few shades darker than the Swiss Coffee...

Please note that the double front entry door with the frosted glass will be swapped out for a single slab door with a window next to it. I am planning to paint the slab door in an accent color that will pop...

Also please note that I'm not a fan of the newer garage door with the cold blue-green-ish tint on the window panes, but it works and I'm guessing it wasn't cheap and so I'm gonna try to work with it

I would appreciate thoughts / suggestions on --
*Wall color choice (Behr Swiss Coffee?)

*Fascia boards / trim color choice (Behr Granite Boulder)*what color to paint the gutters / downspouts... ??

*Front slab door color choice (orange? yellow? robin's egg blue?)

Any other suggestions are welcome

Stunning home. I like your color choices. You can bring in some bright color with large ceramic pots.

I specified a three-part slider in aluminum (inside and out) for my 1970 FL ranch. I am pretty sure we used a PGT product. (It was 5 years ago and I don't really remember.) They have 1300 distributors nationally according to their website. Here is a link that might be useful: PGT

Awww I hope you keep the blue gazing ball - every garden benefits I think from at least one whimsical or kitschy piece! I like the red of the brick - it looks like a true brick red at least on my monitor. You might try scraping some paint on the siding to see what the original color was - just FYI, not that you want to use the same color. I was looking at these in the paint store other day - & thought there was something sweetly vintage and evocative of the 50s about them- maybe one of the beigy ones would tie red brick and stoney taupe together a little better: https://www.ppgvoiceofcolor.com/collections/frank-lloyd-wright/1955-taliesin-color-palette Actually what is that stoney looking piece - is it real? Is repeated elsewhere on the house? What color is the roof? If its blue (kinda looks like it?) and not changing then that would have to be considered somehow - whether that means changing/colorwashing the taupey stone parts to get it more harmonious wtih blue-gray, I dunno.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Off-white with a bright colored, mid century door was the direction I was leaning, so it sounds like I’m on the right track, @emmarene9, I think the small plants are boxwoods, but I am going to pull those out along with the stones and redo that bed with some more mid-century appropriate, Texas native landscaping - maybe grasses or succulents. And here’s a close up of the iron scrolling that you asked for (dirty and coated in that ugly green paint, but in good shape otherwise).

The brick appears to be hand made of natural clay. It has a nicely varied organic look, coloring and texture. Painting will hide the variation and will also require periodic repainting. Real brick is costly and coveted for its natural appearance and because it does not need painting and is low maintenance. It is an intact focal point for your mid century house. Painting it might give it a 'fresh up to date look' for a short while. But right now it looks good already, it is classic and is authentic for your period home. If necessary you can have it properly cleaned and repointed to keep it intact and make it look fresh again.

I like your color choices. I think an orange or robins egg blue would work well for the front door. Cool house.

What about a light army green? Swiss coffee and dark grey are definitely very ”on trend”

This is a vey light army green/beige with slightly darker greenish-brown trim on a mid century.

IMo a colored fornt door would not be my choice ilove the garage doors and IMO I would look for a door that kind of mimics that in some way. IMO would be a door similar to this syle with the frosted glass . MCM was all about simple and I love your house so be acreful not to go too far out of the box.I would however go to work on that front landscaping . I agree to colored pots on the deckand I had that same FP in my other house and it was orange maybe think about adding the color there too.
