Although it is original, it isn’t a particularly interesting example of an Art Deco fireplace. If you want it to remain in keeping with your homes heritage, would it be outside of your budget to have it re-tiled with reproduction Art Deco tiles? If the fireplace still working? If you want to keep your original tiles, they seem to be in good condition, but will require cleaning and re-grouting. Beige tile is pretty neutral and should be easy to decorate around.
