Rooms look nice! Looks like you can pull the living room rug out more. It doesn’t need to be under the back of the couch. Just an idea!

Looks like kitty agrees with the dining room rug! Consider changing dining end chairs to a softer color that ties in with the rug better, just looks on my monitor to be so dark with all the dark chairs on the light rug. The stone column is a nice accent, love the colors. Is there a TV in front of the sofa and you need only a sofa there? Looks like a tight space since entryway is there, but photo doesn't show the wall the sofa is facing.

I like the DR ug I do not like the head of table chairs or the chandelier in that space but that is me. I agree the one in the LR just needs to be repositoned

Agree the LR rug can just be moved away from the sofa a bit, so back legs are on hardwood. Or sofa can be moved back if you still have room to walk behind. Do you have room for end tables? To me, that’s what is missing. Add end tables and lamps. Then your rug may seem too small :) DR rug size is not bad. Better to be able to move chairs in and out with hitting the edge of the rug. I would get something with a little color in it though. Maybe pick up some of the wall color or wall art color? I don’t think it’s too bright, just too bland.

Both rugs are complementary in each room and to each other. I could see a different size rug in LR, but at $70 I’d keep.

Can you show other angles of the living room? Is this a TV area, or something else? Are you planning for other furniture in there?

I agree with you about the dining room rug; I’m not a fan. It’s too much contrast with your dining set, it’s the focal point of the room. I think something less bright and cool, something with warmer colors, would look so much better. Price is great, yes, maybe there are others in that range? There are some great sales going on right now.

Here are some additional photos that I took this morning with better lighting. These are more accurate in terms of color depth. I pulled the couch back a bit so the back legs are off the rug. There is still space to walk behind it.
Also, I put my light chair pairs back on my dining room chairs and I think the colors look more balanced. If I keep this rug in the dining room, I will have to get some different chair pads because the ones I currently have are a little too warm/gold for the rug.

That helps — I like your dining rug much better in these photos! The lighting and lighter cushions make a big difference.

I have tried moving the chair but it just doesn’t look right because of the placement of the front windows and front door. If I put the chair on the side to face the tv, it leaves a weird open/unused space by the windows. I have a huge front porch that cuts out about 1/4 of the room. What we usually end up doing is moving the chair back and forth as needed. It’s kind of a pain but I don’t have to move it often. I’m not a fan of the oddly shaped room but the front porch is worth it!
So, here are some fun details about my house. It is exactly 100 years old this year! I bought it four years ago from a residential contractor who gutted it to the studs. Everything in the house is new: drywall, windows, doors, trim, plumbing, electrical, furnace etc. But, he left the original hardwood floors throughout the entire house. They are perfectly imperfect and absolutely gorgeous. There has never been carpet in this house because there isn’t a single tack mark anywhere. It’s crazy considering how old the house is. The best part: the house was infested with rats when he bought it. Like, dead rats in the furnace infested. He bought it for next to nothing and he and his wife took about a year to completely renovate it. I met them at my closing and we are now really good friends with them. I got an amazing house and an amazing friendship out of it.

I’m a persnickety nit picker, so fire away!! Chances are that I have already noticed myself. For example, the cat poufs at the front window aren’t the right beige/cream tone and it’s a little crowded up there. And, the shelves above the tv are a little bizarre but there are outlets on the wall and I needed to hide them. I am not a fan of wall mounted tv and my router is being hidden on the cabinet behind the tv. And, I have cat furniture that isn’t ideal but this is their house too. What I hate the most, that you haven’t seen, are the sliding barn doors in the bedroom. Yuck!! It’s not the right style for the rest of the house. I’m not opposed to sliding doors in general but, in my opinion, the barn look has never been a good one. I will replace these doors someday, most likely with a glass paneled door.

You might want to look for a pretty Bench seat for the window so cats can perch when needed. I’m looking for leather or velvet for mine.

Id try maybe slip covers on the gray dining end chairs, everything else has warm wood tones, and the rug looks nice. I think its just fighting with some of the other things, the table legs seem large and other things seem softer. Id also consider painting the bench seat white as it is the odd man out finish wise in the room, or cover it with a cushion.

The living room is tough one it seems more like an entry way. I assume there is no other family room?

what if you faced the sofa to the staircase, wall mounted the tv on a pullout swivel, put the chair by the stairwell, then took the console from the dining room (for now) and put it behind the sofa with the two little ottomans? ps I know the scale is offf just a visual of what I mean.

That’s a great idea and something I hadn’t considered. I’m not in love with the idea of a wall-mounted tv though. The furniture placement definitely makes more sense for the room dimensions. I am going to try this later and see how it works! Thank you!
