I can't imagine you'll be keen to cut the first flower, but have you tried taking any of them inside? I was disappointed with William Shakespear 2000 due to undetectable smell when promised lots until one day I picked a bunch and brought them inside....they filled the house with the fragrance. I rather suspect that a really low humidity makes the fragrance very hard to detect for some roses at times, and I find that most of my roses are distinctly more smelly very early in the morning....I also recall reading a tip that if you stick the rose under your hat for a minute the smell with intensify (probably for the same reasons, higher humidity).... though I can't imagine why you'd do that very often :o)

Carol-Thanks for another vote for the Duchesse. I'm in North Idaho in between farmland. The zone 4 roses do well but the Zone 5ers get pretty well nipped. Today the wind is mercilessly whipping the rose canes. They look like the car lot inflatable dancing balloon guys. Fortunately only one of my roses grow tall enough to greet me in the face. Mariannese has a grafted DdRohan, I may not have that option. I'm not sure where I will settle on buying one, or if I'll even be able to snatch up Duchesse PinkWonderfulness this time around; she's one of 3 that I wanted badly also, worse now ! My order for RdViolettes and DdDrReynaud are paid ahead for 2018 at Joy Creek, and I requested DPWRohan be added to my order if any came into stock. Think I'll keep checking off and on to see. She's carried at Rogue Valley and Burlington too, just in case you know anyone ? that might want to snatch one. I woke up at 12:30 AM and couldn't go back to sleep until after 4 thinking of how to make the Flower bed bigger.

I bought graphic novels in Spanish, which were in paperback format and so were not comic books either, but what I bought in Portuguese did qualify as being comic books. I'm not familiar with Tin Tin. The only book I have in French (beside language books) is a collection of works by Baudelaire, but I like it very much. I wish I were better at conversational French - I am pretty good at reading and writing it, but I have a very difficult time understanding spoken French, and when I do speak it, I have a very bad accent. For me, Russian is a lot easier to pronounce than French, even though I have studied French more than I have Russian. I think I have not developed the correct muscles in my mouth to pronounce French correctly, and this should be done at an early age, I think.
