Full StoryI'd like to put in some Yaupon Holly. I understand that it is dioecious, such that if you want decorative berries, you need to have both male and female plants. I also understand that it is often conveniently sold with both in the same pot. But I was at a local nursery today, and I was pointed to a bunch of plants that "oh no, these never have berries", and to a larger plant full of berries that they pointed to proudly and said "yeah, this one doesn't need male and female!" I'm guessing that the former were just all males, but I'm a bit mystified by the latter. Is it true there is a variety that is NOT dioecious? Quite possibly, I need to just go to a different nursery ...
