We had a German Shepard like that, so we started saying "sku" . She learned what that meant. then we started spelling s-q-u. She learned to spell, lol.

My husband acts the same way when I say ”stink bug”. He HATES them. He goes nuts. ”Where?! Where?!”

I had some fun once when my daughter was visiting and I told her to watch what happens when I call out a make believe stink bug. It was pretty funny.
