I don't think I have a photo from the same angle as your shower, but this may help. This is our master shower. The wall with the shower head and handle held shower bar is 44" wide. (That is the wall opposite the controls.) The pony wall is 27" wide and 59" tall. The pony wall plus glass door is 55" long. That means our shower is about the same width, but yours will be longer. This is our basement shower. The wall with the shower head and handle held shower bar is 33" wide. The pony wall is 35" wide and 51" tall. The shower is 64" long. I don't use that shower. It is doorless and I have asked our guests if the water sprays out of the opening and have been told very little sprays out. I haven't asked about water getting on the plexiglass we have over the pony wall. Our shower has a glass door and based on the basement shower not spraying the floor, you would not think the entire width of the glass door would get wet. However, it gets wet when I shower and I use the handheld shower head, but stationary on the bar. My husband uses the rain shower head and he does not get splashes on the door, but he gets a tiny bit of splashing on the pony wall glass. I get no splashing on the pony wall glass. Your mileage may vary.

I had the single swing-ups for many years in various German kitchens and loved them -- the only drawback being the occasional pinched finger if I was grabbing a plate near the edge and shutting with the other hand -- but this is a hazard of any type of hidden hinge, really. The mechanisms take up some space on the inside wall of the cab, too. Those bi-folds look interesting; I wonder how irritating that hanging/folded top door would be over time? I do love that these swinging upper doors don't hit you in the face when you leave them open, the way American side-opening uppers do. Also, you can open all the cabinets as you work and not have to shut one to get inside the other. I don't know why we don't use more of these hinge types over here...? Blum is a good brand and the Aventos lift-ups shouldn't lose their swing prematurely. Check out Haefele versions as well; each brand has a different arc and one swing might accommodate your space better than another.

Thank you both. I'm sorry that I said "square", I actually meant rectangle! Blonde!! I didn't see this sink, so I appreciate your posts. I really like the Krause rectangle w/ the lines/creases(?) on the bottom of the sink. I think it's such a pretty sink. I have a friend that has one & I love it. But, they only go down to 30", or much lower & that just isn't going to work for my 30" base cabinet. raee, my dishwasher is at the end of the run w/ nothing on the side of it. So, if I went to a 32" base, I think I'd be ok because of that. I just want to make sure my plumbing & electrical won't be compromised. It looks like it should be ok, but I want to make sure someone doesn't prove me wrong! I am, by no means, a carpenter/builder kind of person that would be aware of something that could be a problem. debra, thanks for the link. I'm a visual person, so that helps me tremendously. It looks very nice in that kitchen. It sounds like you both are very happy with your sinks, so that's good to hear. I appreciate you letting me know of another option. There are differences in lift up doors and flip up doors, so be sure you're being clear as to what you are asking about. I love how they look, but the primary reason I don't care for lift up doors are that they block the cabinet above when open. (And I could just reorganize my stuff better, for sure.) If you store small stuff in the lower cabinet, and lesser used (but you still need to get to it) stuff in the upper shelf of a standard cabinet, you can still get to everything when you open the door. I put my large spice containers on the top shelf, and my small ones on the lower shelves. So, I have the large thing of peppercorns and granulated garlic above. But, I use the granulated garlic enough that I don't download it into a smaller container, I use it straight from the big container. Bi-fold flip/lift up, which is more accessible Regular lift up, which blocks the cabinet above. Flip up, which will block the upper cabinet. And yes, you will never see horizontal wall cabinets like those in a traditional kitchen. And very few of them in a transitional kitchen. Stressing the horizontal plane is a hallmark of modern design. You will see a lot of single short horizontal or stacked horizontal cabinets in modern design. I do LOVE how they look in that type of kitchen, but it may require a bit of a reorganizing the contents for efficiency sale.
