Apple TV + favorites

I recently signed up for a trial month of Apple TV + in order to watch Slow Horses (this is totally our jam-- we love!) ... we are all caught up and waiting for the remainder of Season 2 to drop week by week so we also watched the first episode of Ptolemy Gray last night (I'm a big fan of Walter Mosely)-- very depressing so far but very well done.

The monthly fee is very reasonable and we've been impressed with the productions so I am inclined to keep it-- what do you like on Apple TV +? I know there are a lot of Ted Lasso fans -- anything else?

Oh, I forgot. I loved Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. Hated Severance.

Severance and The Bear.

We've enjoyed all the Mick Herron books, and they are brought to life perfectly in Slow Horses. Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb is pitch-perfect.

Yes! Gary Oldman is perfect in the role! I did download the first in the Mick Herron series awhile ago-- perhaps at your recommendation?

We watched and loved The Bear (but on Hulu). We'll have to check out Severance. Thank you!

OMG, Robotropolis! I didn't know! OMG!! I think my favorite TV kitchen was The Galloping Gourmet, and mostly because they showed the audience instead of pretending it wasn't a set. Agreed with Gr8day that Ina Garten's TV kitchen is nice. It's efficient and pleasant rather than goopy and weird (some TV kitchens look like the kitchens in flooring ads--all about showing the center rather than actually cooking).

We have a Roku ... the company I work for has a wireless chip inside so a number of us at the office were given the Roku as a Christmas present a couple years ago. The Roku is very, very easy to use. Setup probably took all of five minutes. When Netflix was not charging to stream videos, it was a very good deal but now they charge $8 for mail order DVDs and $8 for streaming. Old movies aren't all that hard to find in regular programming with the cable service we have but I love watching documentaries, which are harder to come by, so streaming is good for that. I just finished 5 Days At Memorial about the aftermath of Katrina at a NOLA hospital. I thought it was really good, though disturbing.

LOVED: Ted Lasso and Severance.

Really liked: The Morning Show, and The Shrink Next Door.

Central Park is quirky and fun. Normally I hate musicals, but this one is really well done. (Featuring Josh Gad and Kristen Bell, among others!)

If you like Sci Fi, Foundation and For all Mankind are really good.

I thought the first season of Truth Be Told was excellent, but quickly lost interest in the 2nd season. (they're different stories so season one can be treated as a standalone.)

Disliked: Physical. I was semi-intrigued by the first season, but got so sick of it. it's a really negative story, and overall it's just not good enough to make that worth it.

Oh, I forgot Mythic Quest. If you like shows about nerdy startup culture, this one is really funny! a lot like Silicon Valley from HBO.

Thanks for all the recommendations! Hopefully others have been able to add to their lists too!

I am the stick-in-the-mud ... I am a very hard sell on a comedy. There are a few I have liked but they are hard to predict and tend to be quirky or just plain messed up lol. Documentaries, mysteries, some dramas are good! I have a bunch to check out!
