Comments (2)cricket6670, Do you know about the Vintage Woodworking web site? It is dedicated to old-style porches, mainly for Victorian houses, but it is chock-full of ideas and pictures of porch designs for all sorts of house styles. My wife and I added a covered front porch to our colonial style house 5 years ago, and I used this web site in my "design" - well, I knew what I wanted in the way of a porch and our contractor built it for us. Anyway, this web site now has their porch design guide book integrated into it - I paid $7 for the book. I think you might at least get some ideas for porches and porticos from this site. Good luck. Comments (3)You didn't say what kind of posts, doors, etc you're planning on. With the low roof and the solar panels (lucky you) I would stick to something more in line with a ranch, farmhouse or cottage. I think what you've shown above will look like a growth on your cute little rancher. Bring the focus down to the porch with beefy trim, a walk and great landscaping! Comments (9)I agree with the direction you're going, frida. My house is small and basically the same shape, but I have siding. I've pinned those same images for my own pergola plans. We're mid-project having poured footings last fall. We'll finish up this summer. We removed our concrete and brick stoop and will have an 8 foot deep front porch that extends to the right almost all the way to the corner. My window to the right of my front door is my kitchen. I'm looking forward to having a small table and chairs on my new front porch. Here's a terrible drawing to explain what you could do, which is what we're doing......See Moreolychick
