Well, I decided to bite the bullet and hang them. I love it! It is so much more than expected! Before showing pics, let me tell you a thing or two. The trim was dh's first try and he did all of it himself. I am so proud. I still have to fill nail holes and caulk etc so don't look too closely. The doors to the children't bedroom have to be rehung too. The door at the end of hallway below welcome sign has to be painted as well. Still much work to be done but it is getting there. It is quite large irl and reflects the lighting from the bath, which sad to say is always left on. LOL! Look at that molding! Dh's first try at molding and he did crown, baseboards, chair rail, and door trim. From Hall gallery This is a special print to me and is on the next wall to the right of the hallway. (same side as the mirror) The print is actually too small and I have another one the same size that is very important that will go beside it later when framed. The second one is of a granny that is feeding the chickens in front of a barn which reminds me of dh's granny. The dogs are paintings of two of our dogs that passed, Marty and Gideon. We are buying other similar size paintings of dogs to place above each doors. There is also a welcome sign at the end of the hallway. (above the door that needs painting.) You see this door and sign at the far end of the hall as soon as you enter. thanks everyone. the BM Saybrook sage is not as similar to RH Silver Sage as the name might imply. the saybrook sage is more saturated than RH silversage, and it's more green than the silver sage. (i have a BM fan deck, and the RH silver sage is committed to memories like the back of my eyelids) hehe on the bottom of the stairs we screwed the gate into the 2x4 and tied the 2x4 to the railing with cable ties. on the other wall we screwed into the white trim because it's easy to patch up white trim. it's not as easy to patch natural oak. :) as for not having trim... i had a couple instances where one paint directly met another. it was the blue and the silver sage. you can kind of see one joint in the corner by the back door on picture 3. as long as you do a really clean job and pick colors that complement each other i think it looks fine! RH Silver Sage: BM Saybrook Sage: for what it's worth, in the RH silver sage collection, the "Pale Silver" is also really nice - it's a barely there version of the silver sage. we had that in our master bath.

The better (less confusing) way to check a switch is to disconnect it and test it with an ohm meter between the common and each of the traveler terminals. If you have continuity between the common and one traveler terminal when the switch is in one position, and between the common and the other traveler terminal when the switch is in the other position, then the switch is good. With the mtvhike method, it could still just be wired wrong. (Inconclusive) As you can see, there is more than one way that only one or zero terminals could be hot if it is wired wrong. Or even that all 3 terminals are hot.

That is a great idea. Do you still have a light switch on the wall? I never even thought of where a light switch would go, but it has to go inside the closet. I think I might get a 24" long LED light so the entire closet lights up. Thanks.
