Marthaelena I tried to post to you yesterday, but didnt realize after I posted to Anne that I couldnt post again, so here were some answers to your previous post The sketches were done in paint and I really had no clue how to draw it out so it definitely is not done to scale. I was just trying to capture the idea of what I was thinking of. I did measure the bathroom and know I needed to keep it at least 5' so wasn't sure if that would work without taking more space out of the office because I'll need some sort of hallway there. Would love to see what you sketched if you can post it. I posted our plan. If you were referring to the space where Anne mentioned the closet should go, it is a hallway. I'm not sure I would like the closet out in the hallway. Id like to keep that in the mudroom to have access to it without having to track stuff in the hallway. Now, I cant describe how thankful I am that you were able to capture what I want. Thank You!! Love your new design (and so does my husband). It captures everything I wanted and I think probably the only thing that will really work there giving the size. I do wish and agree that my laundry room could be longer (or wider), but wider wont work if I keep the mudroom bench (which I want). Not sure how much more I can take out of the office without it looking odd and would it be odd to have your laundry room across the whole front of your house? I would prefer not to, but I didnt want a formal dining or living room because I knew wed never use it, so that is how we filled in that spot. I just didnt want to come in the front door and be right in our great room. I wanted a foyer. Not sure what other design would look good unless I extended the laundry room and made a closet on the other side by the foyer (take out the current closet at the foyer) and make the front half of the room an office. Since you moved the garage door down some is there room to put a small shelf there for things to drop off/pick up etc when going out the door or for charging cell phones, etc.? Or maybe I could put it at the end of my bench. I will leave the wall up by the basement. I think it looks nicer too. Ill make note to remember that (which is why I should increase the space a little). My girlfriends builder didnt think of that and her LR is only 5 and it is pulled out away from her wall so you can barely get in from the garage. I did not like a 20 inch door on the toilet area of the master bathroom, but wasnt sure what else to do there. We wanted a larger shower, which is now too big IMO, but not sure how else to rearrange the bathroom to get the most use out of our space. I wanted a larger closet. We originally had a closet where the pantry is, but took that away so I could have a walk in pantry. Maybe since the kitchen is so big we could move the pantry back into the kitchen. I didnt like the fact that I had to walk around the sink area and past the master bedroom to get to it, but again, not sure what else to do there. Any suggestions/drawings on those two areas? The draftsmen told us he left the shower and toilet area the way it was because of the angle together. Anne would still love to see your drawing of the 1st option you suggested. Thanks for sharing the ways in which you all use your back entries and storage spaces. It is helpful to know what the most useful areas are to you! The room labeled "pantry" would be used more for storage of odd items, similar to chisue's closet. It will house the vacuum, cleaning supplies, ironing board, and extra overflow from the kitchen. The entrance from the mudroom into the house comes between the living area and kitchen, with the kitchen being to the left as you walk in. My main concerns come with the laundry area of the room. I really would like a designated place to hang wet delicate clothes that won't be dried. Right now I have a collapsible drying rack that I absolutely hate and can't wait to throw out. Are stationary rods the answer? And should this area be across from the washer/dryer, taking some of that space currently designated for the closet?Where do you all make room for that? Oruboris, we also need a wide range of outerwear in our climate. That is why I'm not sure about taking out the closet to make room for more exposed hooks and shelving. I don't want the closet to become a dumping ground mess...however, I'm not sure that I want everything out in the open either. And if I take space from the closet area to make more room for laundry, will there still be adequate space to have a functional closet? Am I even making sense anymore? I definitely don't want to find myself with too little storage space. To put a small bath in that area would take space from somewhere. Should it come from the "pantry" area? I guess this would need a total reconfiguration of the room. And this is my problem--I don't know how much space needs to be dedicated to each function of the room. Is the 4' bench and 2' wide cubbies enough area for 4 people to come in and shed coats? How big is a minimum area for a 1/2 bath? Any more suggestions? Thank you!

I have a mudroom/laundry. office and pantry combination. No cubbies as there are no children in the home. Kitchen on one end, garage entrance on others. We have hooks just outside in garage for wet clothes and a shoe rack also. Desk side. Coat closet, desk area. Cabinets above house vases, holiday glassware, cookbooks, and one with batteries, flashlights and misc. File drawers and desk drawer. The big one on the far end holds large bag of dog food and other dog items. Not in picture but located left of coat closet is my drying closet for drying sweaters and things that don't go in the dryer. Louvered doors and there is wiring for a heater/fan combo but we didn't put it in. The heated floors seem to do the job nicely. Sink W/D side. on the far end left is floor to ceiling pantry with slideout drawers inside.Next upper cabinet holds misc kitchen gadgets that are not used to often. Other side of sink upper has detergent and other laundry needs as well as cleaning supplies. Small cabinet up above that holds some tall vases. Then comes stacked W/D with a small cabinet above that has kerosene lamps and other seldom used items. Below counter left of sink drawers with candles and other small holiday deco in top drawer, second drawer down is husbands snack drawer, 3rd drawer has some kitchen pans and other weird shaped things in it. Second set of drawers has tablecloths and placemats in top drawer, extra plastic wrap, paper towels etc in 2nd drawer, various small kitchen appliances in bottom drawer. Cleaning supplies under sink. Next top drawer and second drawer holds small household tools and other such items. Next top drawer has paper goods and misc. Two bottom drawers just misc stuff.

neici, You're welcome. I enjoy doing stuff like this and glad if I can help somehow. On the 1st drawing you could put the shower door on the toilet side wall, or you could use a curtain. It just happens that we have a bathroom like this with a curbless shower and shower curtain. The shower fixtures are on the south wall of our shower. Course, you could modify this and cut that corner off (the SE corner) and use that as your entry into the shower and move the plumbing fixtures...you could add a shower bench. There are really nice frameless glass shower doors that hinge on a wall. Also, have you considered pocket doors for an entry door? A pocket door requires double the space of the door size to slide into a wall though so I don't know if that might work without knowing more details about your home plan. But you wouldn't have to worry about door swing then. About storage. You can have recessed cabinets. We are in the middle of a bathroom remodel that seems like it's been going on forever, but we are building a 2' by 4' tall recessed storage cabinet. It is standard 4" depth. We also built a double wall behind my vanity area so I can have an extra deep medicine cabinet. It will be 45" wide and 30" tall and we are putting an electric outlet inside for chargeable things like electric toothbrush, etc. There are lots of ways to get storage by using the space in the wall. I am also building a recessed tiled niche for 2 towel bars beside my storage cabinet. My bathroom is only 6' wide by almost 12': but no matter what size you can never have enough storage!:) I drew a few more drawings for you to consider. I put in a pedestal sink. It is 2'wide. There are multiple options if you want to put in a furniture type linen closet. On the bottom drawing I put in 1' x 1' squares. Sorry if it makes it look confusing... and one more.
