Cabinet paint color ?

last year

Recently had walnut colored wood tile flooring installed. I have a professional painting company scheduled to paint the cabinetry. Question is : color ? Countertops are a muted gray quartzite and off white subway tile backsplash.

what is the reason. the cabinets look good. the olive wall color not so much. people use two tones of wood all the time between cabinet and floors.....the other surfaces staying pretty light enhances things. your counters are fine and the light backsplash with a light wall color would be a great result

Verbo- It’s not always feasible for people to hire a kitchen designer and completely rip out and redo their kitchen. Also it is never something someone “needs” to do if they have a functional kitchen. OP I think you could make some upgrades without a full redo. Sage green cabinets and a new backsplash would look nice. Painting cabinets is pretty involved, but I know a lot of people that have had great results.

We had similar issues when trying to find a countertop that looked good with our brighter white cabinets. Most of the countertops ended up looking a little dingy next to it. It's always harder to tell in photos, but based on what I'm seeing, I think the whites are fighting a bit. If you still have a chance to change your cabinet color, you might look at a slightly warmer white. We used SW Whitetail SW 7103 on our trim and it comes across as a warm white in our house. Just as a place to start. Hope that helps!

re colors cant tell because your fireplace wall looks blue on my screen for example. sample cards for starters from the paint store. There will be considerable cost to paint those kitchen cabinets. I might get an interior designer to work with color schemes throughout and make sure the lighting is updated properly for this fairly big project to produce cohesiveness if that is your goal. Things like a pendant over the table....a rug under the table..a different backsplash will help w finishing this off in the sense of details matter. You have oversized spaces so handling the right proportions and the right amount of things is where design services can help. If you are truly wanting to work w grays..heres a greenish gray for an area in the kitchen which might work w grays yet be a little nicer . And shown is a room in a lighter neutral feel which is just a preference I would have...I like the way the chunky shelves and one big art piece on the stone seems to be a nice focus....and a few larger chairs for conversation.....cant tell if your living space is done yet w furnishings...anyway....you have a lot of interesting things you can do. Certainly take time and figure out your various schemes.

There is a way to paint the IKEA cabinet faces. It's less expensive than new faces, but there is a huge amount of elbow grease involved in doing this correct. It all depends on what your time is worth. If the IKEA cabinets are from the old Akrum system like mine are, then you can purchase new replacement door and drawer faces from Semihandmade. I think the vertical grooves in the face of your cabinets are going to drive you crazy if you paint them without a paint sprayer.

Those are really nice looking oak cabinets. Not like the ugly orangey ones that are worthy of a paint job. Not what you want to hear, but I'd leave the cabinets alone and have the wall painted navy blue.

I would leave the cabinets too, although, I do see you have a different wood stain on your island. I would paint the island. I would go light paint on the walls, and since I like the idea of navy blue, I would paint the island navy blue, and use some navy blue accents in your accessories.

I love your cabinets and think your choices and changes will look great. But I don’t love the gray plantation shutters. They just look out of place and busy in front of the sink. Do you have a problem with direct sunlight coming in? If not, I’d remove them.
